I don't know. The ending to Deadly Premonition left me a bit... unsatisfied. I didn't like how all the dead girls and Thomas were completely unaffected by anything that happened. They never acknowledged how Thomas tried to kill Emily or how Carol had poisoned her with the seeds. The sisters never really reconciled either. I mean, the stuff with York and Emily was sweet, but it felt really awkward, remembering the terrible things all these people had been though. Hell, Swery almost made it seem like it was better to be dead and in heaven. The twins still chatted with York and Emily, and Zack is left on his own. It didn't help that they had to drag out the ending, with making you drive back to the hotel. I get that this is probably so you can try out some final side quests, but it seems badly placed to me. Vinnie and Jeff's lackluster reaction might have also contributed to my doldrums over the ending. It just didn't really feel like any true closer, and I would have really liked to know what was the point of making you control the first Raincoat Killer before they switched you back to York. Or hell, I would have liked to whether York was shooting real zombies all those other times or if he was just fucking crazy. I opt for crazy because crazy is fun. I guess I can accept Zack would just get over all that and go back to work because he's nutty like that. But still... a lot of dead air for that epic finale.
And now, excerpts from the new Republican site devoted to gathering political solutions from the people:
- "A 'teacher' told my child in class that dolphins were mammals and not fish! And the same thing about whales! We need TRADITIONAL VALUES in all areas of education. If it swims in the water, it is a FISH. Period! End of Story."
-"End Child Labor Laws... We coddle children too much. They need to spend their youth in the factories."
AND MY FAVORITE
-"BP is creating a new race of faster dolphins. These fish are unable to compete against the fish of other countries, but now their increased lubrication will allow them to fly through the water. Faster fish = good."

Is that what happens when a bird mates with a fish?

I agree that Swery got ... weird with the message at the end (SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO KILL YOUR WIFE), but from a gameplay perspective, I really like that the epilogue is playable. I also had more emotional investment in the characters because the extra/side stuff brings about more character development on their part.

I also have no problem with throwing in the side quests at the end, but I think that should be the option once you reach the hotel. I'd rather Michael take you back to the hotel AND THEN once the Polly stuff is over, you can do side quests. Then, it feels more natural and not stilted.

You always have the option of not talking to York at the end, and you don't have to sleep at the hotel—there are beds scattered all over town. The intent of making you drive through town is to encourage you to talk to the NPCs you've been getting to know throughout the game. If you want a swift end, then yeah, it's stilted, but that's not how the game is laid out from the very beginning.

Oh, see I thought they wanted you to go to the hotel because of the red goal mark. So I thought Polly was like the final piece of the plot. I didn't realize she was just a conversation like the other NPCs in the town. I think I'm just moody because I'm pissed at how they made Emily a jesus and then killed her and that was not cool, even though someone told me it was coming.

Or maybe Polly is just evil too. And in on it.

...though I'll bet there were people there to agree with them and that's kind of sad. (because my troll-dar is terrible)
