tempestuously: ([geass] i'm the prettiest)
Returnage occurred yesterday but I managed to depress myself with both the final volume of Banana Fish and Godchild 5. More on those later.

The con was actually quite satisfying. I managed to find three Code Geass doujinshi. There were more but they were hentai and wouldn't identify the pairing and I don't play that for the prices those things go for. But one of my pretties involves Suzaku as Prince Charming and Lelouch as Snow White, set up by Milly of course. Card Captor Sakura flashbacks anyone? Also snagged some Ouran doujinshi with Haruhi because I don't think the yaoi booth guy realizes Haruhi's a GIRL. They were still awesome. Oh and a RikuSora with an ultra cute storyline and a surprise smut ending. The other notable purchases were my Suzaku and Lelouch figures -- I stole Suzaku's Lancelot key. I have pictures to show of these, but they aren't pretty since I can't take pictures of myself to save my life.

I will do a full con report later, complete with bitchings about the worst shoujo ai known to man, the CFUD meet-up that mostly consisted of porn origami and doing naughty things to Shrek, the adorable English voice actors and a fan's baby, the cuteness of the Trigun mangaka, the badge crisis line, my wangsting over refusal to pay $22 for the semi-porny cover of Kallen and Shirley, somehow fatally injuring my wrist on Lelouch's chess piece and much much more.

I realized I missed Heroes. ;_; And Daddy won't tell me what happened.

I love the crack that is the cover for Sound File 3. Lelouch looks damn silly in his glasses. Still not as cracky as the sneak peak of the newest sound file chapter. The end reads to me like Suzaku wiped a piece of rice off Lelouch's face and ate it. ... what? The rest is 100% comedy crack though.

While showing Rache some of Geass this weekend, I realized that I really really do enjoy Lelouch/CC even more than I thought. And I was right, Lelouch really is a bastard to Kallen. If he thinks he can get away with it, he seems to enjoy being a bastard. Like I told Rache, Lelouch is a cocky prick with no self-esteem. Impressive, Lulu.
tempestuously: ([rxj] it is thy name that is my enemy)
Now that Graham spoiled me horribly and consensually about the nature of Spider-man 3, I want to go see just so I can make completely out-of-place slash comments and create a messed-up orgy in my mind. This could work out since Bro still wants to see it, him having a man crush on the kid from That 70s Show. If he knew I just wrote that, he would probably come up here and murder me.

Speaking of murder, I'm going to be eaten alive with garnish tonight so I apologize if I return in a MOOD. I need to be dling R x J now.
tempestuously: ([gank] bestest friends)
Watched the OP of RxJ. Dammit, if I didn't already confuse this show with Gankutsuou, the Japanese "You Raise Me Up," which thanks to CFUD's OOC comm is like *the* Franz/Albert song for me, is making things ten times worse.

In other news, I wish to remake the current Geass 300 trailer as it should be. Because as awesome as Suzaku is, ain't nobody can say "TONIGHT WE DINE IN HELL!" like crazy-ass Zero. With any luck, somebody with more skills and time on their hands will beat me too it, and the result will be a better product.

As I expected, Darker than Black did not win me over with its first episode. Lee reminds me too much of L and I'm not overly interested in the secret powers. I'll give it another go next week and see if anything snags me harder. Romeo x Juliet, on the other hand, was an instant winner, with Zorro!Juliet, flying dragon horses, adorable Benvolio and Albert!Romeo. I'm not sure what's up with the story itself since the Capulets are a bit MIA and I really hope that guy in the beginning turns out to be Paris and not Tybalt, but I like the twist. I don't think I will entirely despise the romance between the main characters this time around.
tempestuously: ([geass] take it like a man baby)
I've decided to be productive while waiting for RxJ and Darker than Black to finish. To this effect, I've picked up the new Eyeshield, Bleach, Hikaru no Go and the starter volumes for Let Dai and Reborn.

I was also checking out the comparison site for Geass TV and the Geass DVD. They are sure fond of retconning but in a good way. I was floored by the detail they went and added to each of the shots where the animation got wonky or someone wasn't dressed right or their bandages weren't consistent with what had happened to them. They also went back and replaced some of the details that got lost in the original version. Gasp this means they might actually fix 19 so that Euphie doesn't look retarded in half the shots and so that Lelouch doesn't look like a cracked-out alien when he smiles. Must buy Japanese DVDs now.

I might take on this topic later but when I was perusing through the 50 question interview for both boys again, because [livejournal.com profile] crazythorn reminded me that Lelouch is a Tolkien fan and that's damn funny, I noticed their answers to a very interesting question: what does love mean to you?

Lelouch: Something you give without limitation.
Suzaku: It may be a thing you take away from people.

Aside from the obvious irony in their responses, I think it reveals much about the true nature of our young rivals. Again, a statement like that makes me doubt that Lelouch will be sincere in his aggressor role against Suzaku. I think friendship means more to him than most would like to believe. Whereas, Suzaku, ever the idealist, is more down-to-earth on this subject. I'll stop now before I go into essay mode and butcher my reading time. Where's Counterattack dammit?

GameFAQS Quote of the Day: Wow...I just realized the Kururugi's are named Genbu and Suzaku... >_> I wonder if there are two more out there...
tempestuously: ([geass] stand by for another breakdown)
Your random bitchy comment for the day. Seriously people, if you cannot spell any other name in Code Geass, there is no excuse for misspelling Lelouch. It's in the friggin' title. In English. On every episode. I went back to check my raws before this. Are you blind? This would be like misspelling Naruto. There is no second E. There *is* an O. I don't want to think about how much worse fans can futz this up. It's such a minor thing that I shouldn't care, but as there is so little fanfic, it saddens me to see the main character's name spelled wrong in half of them.

I'm going to wait for RxJ and Darker than Black to be subtitled before I get into them. Following both raws and subtitles takes too much time. Geass was a special case.

Mmm, I think "Breath" by Breaking Benjamin has become my new post-23 theme. Very manic. Possibly Suzaku-POV? I like "So sacrifice yourself, and let me have what's left" and "I'm waiting, I'm praying, realize, start hating" the best. I originally wanted it for my header image lyrics, but it didn't fit the image. I think I have a good Suzaku icon to text up now though. Perhaps the one with his angry knight self, his dead-eyed hatred at the end of 23 or that new Cornelia/Suzaku image. I need to stop choosing rock songs for Geass. It's my need for something violent.

As always, lyrics because I love them. )
tempestuously: ([kh] yesterday's just a memory)
Returnage. I think my attempts to convince myself I have a life outside Geass were mildly successful, even if I did end up returning to the spoilers board and LJ community at least three times a day. The important thing is that I'm not mind-numbingly depressed about the spoilers for now. Instead I've been systematically destroying my brain with Ergo Proxy. I used my new word "WTFery" to describe it most of the time. [livejournal.com profile] quebelly enjoyed that. Vincent has very pretty eyes. I would probably think he was awesome were he not so friggin' creepy. I like even more creepy kid-doctor-guy, even though I'm 100% sure he's going to fuck up something major. He can still be pretty and full of stalkerish fun in the meantime. Of course Real is also awesome.

I've been trying to come up with a way of eliminating the possession/spiritual aspect of Heritage because I think the story already has enough crack muddying the waters without that on top of it. I can mostly get rid of it, but I'll need to come up with another reason for Casandra's masochism. That and I still want to keep god-mode San somehow because overly huge wolves of destruction and werewolf-styled ethnic cleansing are cool. I don't think I can feasibly transfer the power to Rom anymore, which makes me a bit sad.

I read the first two volumes of the masked detective series by the Pet Shop of Horrors mangaka. I love their meta style and the completely off-the-wall nature of the masked detective. I need to read her other one about the reincarnated spirit guide.
tempestuously: ([geass] just fantasizing)
Stomach virus all but took me out last night. I could barely enjoy my Geass this morning.

I wish I knew who did the manip in this icon so I could properly credit them. It's awesome.

I plan for a speculation post, icon post and another episode reaction post just because I can never get my fill of discussion. For now, when it comes to speculation, I'm sticking with the magazines since I get myself too worked up over other "spoilers."

I agree with many people that 20 did not have enough Lelouch. I adore Euphemia and Suzaku in fighting mode is always a thing of beauty, but I do need a good chunk of Lelouch because them alone is not quite as gripping. More on details )
tempestuously: ([geass] roleplay)
Nayami, still adamant about confirming an existence of a second Geass season because it is my life and one of the few things that makes me truly happy, wandered into some uncharted territory tonight. Mainly spoilers galore, including Episode 25. While I'm not about blurting them out, I will say that they consist of oh noes, warm snugglies and massive WTF WTF immacutyoubitch. All in all, I'm jacked up for a wild ride to the "conclusion." I am also optimistic at hearing that Geass was intended to be 50 episodes so there's little reason it won't be still.

Off to have fucked-up dreams about my Lulu.

Also have to remember to post that pic of Lelouch crying in episode 4 before donning the Zero mask. I mean, WTF? Am I really reading too much into it when I associate this with Suzaku being up for execution?
tempestuously: ([not!kamui] in yur base readin your pron)
I was led to believe by rumors a while back that Geass would be two seasons. While I would still love for this to be the case because I will miss my Lulu something fearsome, I'm no longer sure it it is legit. The plot has been moving considerably quicker lately and appears to be building to a finale. It pisses me off because we wasted a perfectly good episode on a recap early on, not 17.5; I like 17.5. I think it was 8.5. I reviewed the rumor post today and noticed that most of what it said would happen has occurred. I hope this holds true for Schneizel because Lulu needs someone to fight, and the guy seems like a big teddy bear to me. But the rumor post also constantly referred to a second and third part. I could see the second part as being the stuff after Mao since it is true the story has been hauling ass since then. But what would the third part be? The final three episodes? I think the universally accept amount of episodes for this series as of now is 25, meaning Geass has six episodes to reach a conclusion and solve its many mysteries: C.C., who killed Marianne, what the hell is up with Suzaku's Coordinator skills, will Lelouch lose to Geass and what will happen to the Rebellion. If they can do it properly, more power to them, but I'm extremely wary right about now. Don't disappoint me, Sunrise.
tempestuously: ([naruto] close your eyes)
This week has been another good one in terms of my series. Sasuke reveals his inner bitch and goes AWOL on Orochimaru in the best way possible, complete with leaping onto Orochimaru's bed and later stripping. And Oro turns into a phallic mess of snakes. What more could I ask for? Oh that CurseLevel2!Sasuke didn't always have to be one ugly mofo. But if Sasuke kills off Orochimaru now, does that mean he'll never learn how to summons snakes to be naughty with Naruto? This is, of course, my greatest fear. I still think Kabuto will intervene. Where is that lazy bitch? I want to know how long Sasuke has been hiding this sharp-tongued backbone; it's much more arrogant and eloquent than anything he's shown us before. Maybe it's come with age. I also have to ask why Sasuke is in such a mood NOW? He get sick of not!killing for Orochimaru or something? Something tells me things aren't going to end well for my winged bitch.

Still, Sasuke's bitchitude comes second place to Lulu's gay love and failure at life in my "Which Character is Having the Best Week Ever" mental poll. As much as I adore smexy Sasuke showing us that not all is lost, I got to give the prize to the military strategist who would use his GODLY trump card to save his boyfriendthe guy who considers him Public Enemy No. 1. Congrats, Lulu. You just ascended to top ranks in my character book. You know, I'm actually considering reccing Geass to people now that its plot is moving faster and it's more than just pretty Sunrise crack, even though the animators do have some drawing issues at times.

Have these happy happenings broken me out of my slump? We'll see.

I was going through my Geass entries since I started watching back in October and it's amazing to see how much they've changed as the show continues, from pointless mockery to truly investing in the plot. I took a few sections from each entry to exemplify this point because I find it hilarious.

tempestuously: ([ygo] nostalgia)
Ended up snowed in at [livejournal.com profile] quebelly's house, watching 10th Kingdom and crocheting crappily. I don't know if I'm actually going to take up the hobby or not. I need to buy my own needle and other things. I guess it's remotely relaxing. We also watched Ergo Proxy, which, after figuring out one of the big mysteries three episodes in, I am strangely intrigued with, and might pursue.

The Departed won the Oscar. Yay! Yay for Martin. He deserves it after all this time. I bet Lucas felt really awkward being up there with the award winners. Good. It'll teach him to make better movies from now on.

Current state of me? Still meh. Might have to forcefully change that, whether I'm up for it or not. I'm sick of playing isolationist again.

EDIT: I'm so happy to see my Geass discussion post actually provoked good discussion. I need to read more and respond when I get back from work, although it's probably too late for people to talk back. Also, C.C. is going to make one hell of a camper. Pizza Hut Supports the Rebellion yo!
tempestuously: ([not!kamui] yay for bondage)
For now this post is just to list the stuff I bought at Katsucon, mostly American manga. It might include reactions to Cantarella 6, Godchild 4 and some more Eyeshield later on.

I. cannot. explain. my. joy. right. now. Shippuden gave us Issue 300 right off the bat. Anyone who follows Naruto knows exactly what that means. Shippuden is everything I hoped it would be. I'll even forgive it for the strange rap in the beginning because the animation itself is so good. And the ending makes up for all the filler crap I didn't have to sit through. SasuNaru + Towel = OT3. No matter how shitty the rest of the day may turn out, I'm keeping a perky outlook.
tempestuously: ([geass] save a horse ride a cowboy)
I think we'll do this journal entry in sections because this week has been amusing yet mostly uneventful.

Before that, am I the only one who watches Episode 23 of Gankutsuou and during THE BIG SCENE starts subconsciously hearing the ending theme from Christine's final scene with the Phantom. You know, the "Pitiful creature of darkness, what kind of life have you known? God grant me courage to show you you are not alone." ... Yeah, it's probably just me.

Riff Trax: Best thing ever. Seriously. If you miss MST3K on Sci-Fi, here's the next best thing. This made Daredevil watchable. They hate Colin Farrell almost as much as me. Ah kindred spirits. Although nothing could salvage The Grudge. "Wow, this movie doles out terror by the thimblefull." Matrix was also fun.

Thus I blather on about Eyeshield, Dr. Who, Geass and anything else I might have fangirled lately. )

Saw Dreamgirls last night. I think I had to be the only person in that theater who went to see this movie without prior knowledge the AI star was in it. I just wanted to see it because it was a musical and from the clips, the music was beautiful. I was not disappointed and was in a fact blown away by the performances. Jennifer Hudson truly lives up to her hype and Eddie Murphy wow. All of the characters were just perfect for their roles. I must have the soundtrack.

I also saw North & South and Snakes on a Plane. North & South is one of the few romance-type movies [livejournal.com profile] quebelly has forced upon me that I have not fallen asleep during it. I was all right with the remake of Pride & Prejudice but only because I enjoyed how pathetically emo its Darcy could be. But North & South had nice cotton mill drama to add to things, making it more than just boring wooing and emotional constipation. As for the Snakes, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't nearly as bad or as violent as people kept telling me. Everyone I hated died, and the snakes were fun.

Then there was HanaDango drama season 2. The first episode was entirely too long but did include some classic win. Putting spoilers here just in case anyone on my list watches. )

Look at the awesome icon [livejournal.com profile] quebelly made. She rocks so hard with the funny.
tempestuously: ([gank] our quiet)
Work chooses to torment me again today. But all must see the awesome trailer for RomeoxJuliet that [livejournal.com profile] rubyd linked on her journal. I hate Romeo and Juliet with a burning passion since I blame it for all of the stupid suicide fics teenagers fantasize about whenever they enter a fandom and I also was never fond of the main characters. But I'm willing to put aside that grudge for something that comes from the people who did Gankutsuou. I realize that GONZO is only doing the designs, but I will still remain optimistic if the trailer's anything to go by. Romeo has a flying horse and Juliet cross-dresses and has a sword. Need I say more?

I need to form me an anime club so I can watch the huge backlog of stuff I have. I rarely feel like marathoning things without someone to be amused with me.

Sick sick all day so mostly just burning shit off the computer. I managed to get my basic hard drive up to 21 gigs again and the external is chugging along with 63, more than half of its capacity. I might actually be able to burn stuff again. I doubt I'll watch it, but I can burn series to my heart's content.

I'm also buying 4 CDs of a certain drama nature for x-mas or birthday or whatever. It's my gift to me and I don't think my series horribly depresses me enough with words. I need to *hear* it too. We shall see how that goes.
tempestuously: ([ygo] crossing paths)
Hanging with Comp Sci again. Might catch The Fountain. I probably won't be back until Monday. Damn, I should have watched the DN movie and the DN episode when I was in my slump yesterday. Did I even dl the DN episode?

Geass had character development for Cornelia, which impressed me. It's cliched but it's something. She wuvs her sister. That means she and LuLu have something in common. While I originally believed LuLu could manipulate this weakness for his own means, I wonder if his own familial relationships will cause him to waver. LuLu's army is so cool.

Watching dubbed Bleach last night reminded me how much I really love Ishida, even if my father did mess up recording the first few minutes. He's just so fake bad ass. Same thing from dubbed Neji, who sits like a girl btw. It's been so long since I've seen/read any of these episodes that I almost forgot what the characters were really like.

Trinity Blood also had a good episode. The one thing I can't stand about the series is that it has so much potential to be more than it is. Vampires that are actually an alien race but are prone to all the usual weaknesses of a vampire but also who cannot turn anyone vs. humans led by the Vatican. What is not cool about that? Apparently plot and storyline that doesn't move at the speed of a train on molasses. Aside from Cat (can't remember her whole name right now) and Trez, I hate any character who isn't a vampire. The vampires are prettier and more fun to watch. This series would work so much better if it wasn't so friggin' episodic. Ok I admit it, this episode struck my fancy because the young noble vamp and his manservant were cute.

Sorry for anyone who's tried to contact me when it looked like I may have been online. I keep passing out and forgetting to turn off AIM.

Also, does anyone know of awesome things to do in Florida for a party or such? Looking to stay away from the amusement parks naturally. But nature parks and things like that are just fine. Also no beaches. I'm not a beach girl.
tempestuously: ([ffvii] eyes on you)
I just realized that I spent a good chunk of hours this weekend, bitching about how I had nothing to do and how I had finished all my anime. Yet I still have not watched the new dubbed Tenipuri or HikaGo. It's as if I completely forgot about them, as I somewhat have with Grayman. I blame the utter snorefest that is the Tenipuri dub for this.

Oh good I was afraid I would not longer be able to find SeraMyu, but I guess it only matters if it's licensed by the English companies. Yays. Probably won't be able to find my Sailormoon and R anymore though. Evil google.

Bro gets to stay home because he made himself sick and I'll have to stay out until forever tonight, fighting with the smarmites that are what my job is all about.
