Nekkid bishies, yaoi fangirls and random emo nostalgia oh my

Yah, I'm done being wanky now. Fairweather fans just make me sad. I guess it's because I engage in fandom in two ways: active fan or I just like. Most series I just like. But when I'm an active fan, it usually takes a HUGE collapsing of plot or total disregard to a character's "true self" to make me ditch them. I talked about leaving WR all the time when I heard Toboe was going to die, and even when he did, I had no choice but to hold out until the end. Almost every series that I've truly liked that I've been "oh I'll drop it if they kill __," I rarely do it. Ah well.

Hey, did anyone else notice that at the end of 22 when they were showing the clips of the favorite scenes, the Gawain/Lancelot OTP scene won over both the love confession and Suzaku's adorable "yes your highness" at the end of 20. This teaches me the Japanese are really gay for their mecha. Don't take that offensively. I just think "gay" works better than "in love," given the context of Gawain and Lancelot.

I think it's because I'm not satisfied with the Naruto manga right now so it just seems like more pandering while Kishimoto figures out what to do. I'm not completely against the character of Suigestu but more the pacing of this arc. I do appreciate Kishimoto bringing back elements from the Haku arc, but again I don't know if this is truly essential to the storyline or just more pandering. I am happy to see Sasuke seeming almost nostalgic at parts of this and showing an older, albeit darker, side of his usual pissy personality. All in all, I don't think I'm angry at Sasuke like I once believed. Just the plot. As long as Sasuke's not PWNING all in unbelievable ways, I can enjoy his character as I always have. I also agree with some that the Konohamaru scene was completely out of place, and the chapter should have just focused on Sasuke. Had it been a mostly Team 7 chapter, I might have been more willing to see this as a light-hearted crack chapter. But it's not so the humor sticks out like a sore thumb. I still need to read the translations to figure out what exactly brought that on. At first I was annoyed at Sakura's reaction to the yaoi, but as someone pointed out nekkid!Sasuke is always an instant win in Inner Sakura's book so I'll drop that criticism. All in all, you still have a chance to preserve something of integrity in this arc, Kishimoto, but only if you really start to *think* about things.

I'm totally still doing my Off to See the Wizard interpretation.

ETA: The fandom joke about Sasuke just trying to rival his brother by picking up his own shark-man and Akatsuki actually makes me feel better about the recent developments. But what will Sasuke call his new harem?
