Yugioh GX 34

All right, these screencaps are an exercise in restraint. I warn you that not all of them are going to be pretty. Sure, there are some excellent nostalgic moments going on, especially for dragon lovers like myself. But there is also a heavy WTF factor. Just so you have a bit of hope, I do promise a reward. Just be patient and don't skip ahead like a CHEATER!

Yeah, I corrected some things thanks to [livejournal.com profile] franthenut.

First, say hello to the new god cards.

Obelisk V. 2

Ra V.2
Why a creature of fire and sun is now associated with ice is anyone's guess.

Osirus V.2
He's a lava boy.

Just because I really like the new Osirus. Look at his shimmering eyes.

All right, OP over. Sum up of storyline. So Juudai and his posse are hanging at the hot springs. Juudai just had a freaky dream about some scary duelist attacking him with a dragon that shot blue energy (might cap this later). He's worried about his friends. Some of his friends have already fallen to misfortune. While, he's swimming about and stealing people's towels because he's a dirty little perv, his creepy angel Kuribo leads him to another part of the springs. Juudai is immediately sucked into the world of the Duel Monsters.

This fellow is Manjoume Jun. I think he wants to be Kaiba. But then again so did Ryo. He's slightly less pissy. He's one of the elites in Kaiba's Duelist Academy.

Here's Manjoume again with main character Juudai (voice by my lovely KENN who plays Yuuta in TeniMiyu). You must wonder what they're looking at...

DUN DUN DUN KAIBAMAN!
No, I'm serious; this is actually what they call him. The duel monsters love him and call him Kaibaman-sama.

Personally, I'm all hot and bothered over his sleek new duel disk. Gimme!

As you can see, your standardized Kaibaman comes complete with all the typical Kaiba accessories such as the Battle City jacket, the tight black muscle shirt, the needless arm buckles, and the nifty leg buckles as you will note in later pictures. But he's been enhanced with black gloves (that remind me of Batman with what looks like studs (or retractable claws? 0_o), and sexy red vest.

Close up. Really ought to do something about that nose.

Oh yes, Kaibaman also has hair, lots of flowing hair. Why's it red btw? Moving on...

Of course, no Kaibaman could be complete without his pride and joy.

As an extra bonus, today's Kaibaman includes the ability to copy himself. Two Kaibamans for the price of one.

But as any duelist knows, there's one thing better than Kaibaman: BLUE EYES!

Ohhh memories.

Look, the lovers bestest best buddies in the world get their own eyecatch.

Kaibaman doesn't play around with Juudai the way he once did with Yuugi. No, this one's out for the kill. Introducing the Blue Eyes Destruction Burst Magic Card. It can simulate the Blue Eyes' attack perfectly, unfortunately for dear Juudai.

There are some ugly buggers in the GX. Manjoume thinks so too.

Another old friend takes the stage.

And our Kaiba clone does what Kaiba does best. Gloat and rant. Thatta boy, Kaiba.

Time to call in the rest of the family.

And the classic smirk of smugitude.

Ha ha. Juudai thinks he's actually has a chance. You don't take on the throne, pipsqueak.

Just reminding everyone what the final score will be when this match is over.

Ok, the Kaibaman's just taken Kaiba's penchant for wearing tight clothes to a whole new level. He looks like he has man boobs!

Here, have the rest of the dragon clan to clear your mind of that comment. Wait, three Blue Eyes. You know what this means.

BLUE EYES ULTIMATE DRAGON!

Yes, Kaibaman, that entitles you to another smirk.
Actually he's smirking because Juudai's all confident about his ability to win. Pssh.

Launching Ultimate Burst Spray. Look at the lovely backdrop.

Interlude to explain things here. So Kaibaman and Juudai's monsters are both going at each other. Juudai's monster has been given a boost to make it stronger. It seems Kaibaman will lose for sure.

But you know our boy, always one step ahead.

Loo-sa-errr!

Happy Kaibaman. You suck, Juudai.

So then Juudai and Kaibaman talk. I can't understand Japanese so I'll be a good little fangirl and not make random speculations. As [livejournal.com profile] franthenut pointed out, "Kaibaman gave Juudai a peptalk."

Still knows how to exit with the cocky walk of his.

OK, who's still with me? We now have one last special treat.

The real deal this time.

Hee. His hair is in his eyes now.
How old is he? 20? How many years after Duel Monsters does this take place?

*continues to have joygasm*

Few things I noticed about this episode. One, Yugioh GX has seemed to have merged with Pokemon because the duelists like talking to their duel monsters and they appear in an alternate dimension like the yamis used to. Two, the new duel monsters are kind of pussies pathetic, especially Juudai's. Bubbleman? Give me a break. I do hope that I get a little more about Kaiba in the next episode. Maybe something's going down at his academy and he's going to have to bust some skulls. Well, probably not. But just a few minutes of him talking would please me too.

Maybe you failed to realize that you are on MY journal. I was just sharing the caps and I said I know nothing about GX. I was very open about it. I was half-ass summarizing for my friends. Nothing wrong with that. They barely care enough to watch GX. Yeah, I shouldn't have used the confusing rumors I've collected. The puzzle piece thing was something confusing I ran into at a web site while trying to get Jun's name. So you can snark at me all you want in the actual Yugioh community, but when you're on MY journal, even if I linked it through the community (I did so to limit the use on my bandwith as it's being iffy lately), you should show a degree more civility. I am aware that you like to maintain some status for Yugioh and information surrounding it, but you must also realize that I obviously don't give a damn about GX and if I want to fake-ass a summary to my friends, I'm entitled to it. It's not like I didn't warn anyone.

I know nothing about the videogame, and I highly doubt that's common knowledge but I appreciate the clarifying of that.

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-05-26 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
If you didn't want people comenting in YOUR journal you shouldn't have posted it here. Bandwidth would have been the same no matter where you posted. Your 'Half assed summery' for your friends was posted for a larger comunity to view. There are not diffrent rules just because it's linked in vs if it had been a LJ cut.

He's called Manjoume, not Jun. At that point in the ep, they're calling him Thunder anyway so it doesn't even matter.

I'm sorry you think correcting missinformation is snark. If you don't care abotu GX, don't make like you know anything about it because this is how stupid rumours start and in this fandom, rumour is often taken as fact, which is why people beleive crap like 'In the manga, Shizuka and Kaiba are dating!' and the like.

[identity profile] sharpefan.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, the snark came in where you said "If you don't know anything abotu this show do NOT try and summerise!" Honestly I don't know you, so I don't want to make assumptions, but take the elitist authoritative level down a notch.

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
How is that snark?

It's common sence. If you don't know what you're talking about, don't pretend you do. Do not guess at what you think might be being said if you can't understand a thing about what's going on. Especialy when you're providing a summery of events for people who won't even see what you're summerizing. They will take what is said as fact and that's how stupid rumours are started.

[identity profile] crowphoenix.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 12:37 am (UTC)(link)
All right, I retracted my earlier comment because I thought maybe you were just being nice and it came off wrong, but now your just being a selfrightious asshole. This is not your livejournal, and we are not your friends. You were not harmed by any ideas that may have come frome this post, and if you are that fragile, that rumors absolutly destroy you, then maybe you should calm down. You are not being helpful, you are acting superior and it impresses no one and simply drives off other fans.

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
So basicly you're saying I shouldn't mind if people post incorrect things. Your agument is basicly like when people say 'Well if you don;t like it, don't read it!' that is so often used on FF.net when people give reviews that are even the slightest bit less then the sparkling praise that the author expects. The link to here was posted in a community. If coments were not wanted from the comunity here, the contents should have been posted in the community, not just linked to or a coment should have been made 'Reply here, not in my journal.'

I'm not being a selfrightious asshole. I'm being an anal bitch.

[identity profile] crowphoenix.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Same thing. There is a courteous way to inform people of their mistakes then there is your way. If you want people to treat you fairly and with respect, then treat them nicely.

Also, the FF.net thing doesn't help your case because it's the authors interpretation of the events. They don't have to be 100% correct, because they are fanfiction. If you don't want others interpretations, then simply read the manga or watch the anime.

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 01:11 am (UTC)(link)
No amount of intrepretation can account for Yami Yuugi beating Yuugi or Kaiba crying like a girl because he got a papercut. Or Yuugi bashing Anzu or for Pegasus to have a daughter, or for any other number of things that people will do in fanfic. That wasn't what I was getting at, however. I have had people give me the 'If you don;t like it, don't read' for pointing out that they made a very large error, or saying that the way that they write the character is inconsitant, or saying that I didn't care for how they overused a plot device or any other coment that wasn't 'OMG SOOOO GREAT LOLOLOLOL' [Note: I am not tryign to draw parallels here, just pointing out examples where the argument you made has been overused and why it doesn't hold much water]

Considering that no matter how I treat people in this fandom, I am often treated rudely, I've really stopped careing. There is no reward for politeness, so I often don't bother to calm down from my inital 'Goddamnit, someone is being stupid again!' reaction. Afterall, if you're expecting to be bitched at anyway, why bother being nice? *shrugs*

[identity profile] crowphoenix.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, well, I am sorry for how you have been treated by various people, and I definitly don't see you as an idiot. This is also my last point in this arguement as I believe I have made an ass of myself. In my post on ff.net, I was not speaking of people that blatently disregard all things cannon. That is a problem, and if people get angry for constructive criticism then that's their problem. I just wanted to understand if it was morons you hated, or simple manipulation which could still be proved by some fact. I have my answer and see that in some ways, I was mistaken in what you said about fanfiction, and find I am in agreement with your view on the examples posted above.

I'm done speaking now. I hope you have a good night.

[identity profile] fluffymaru.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 08:04 am (UTC)(link)

Sorry, Fran, but they're right.

It wasn't what you were saying, but the way you were saying it. No one can be correct 100% of the time, even about things we love and watch. Eventually, some bit of info you have will be wrong or imcomplete.

It was fine that you pointed it out, but you don't have to be rude about it. And yes- you ARE being rude. The tone was definitely there, because *I* went "whoa".

Just because you're mad at the fandom and all the idiots out there doesn't mean you should take it out on one person in particular.

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
No offence, but the issue has been resolved. I ackwolaged that I overreacted. It happens sometimes... I'm not perfect. Noone is.

[identity profile] nayami.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not going to fight with you because you want to feel superior to me, but I have to get one thing straight. You are more knowledgeable. There. As for Jun, I did look that up so I guess the Janime site lied to me.

I don't mind you correcting me. I always take correction into account and am happy with people for pointing out my mistake. That wasn't why I responded as I did. But you don't have to be so elitist about it. Every time I've talked with you, you've treated me this way, and I don't feel I've deserved it.

There are much calmer ways of setting facts "straight" without putting it in the tone you used. I understand you want to prevent rumors so I get your wish to correct me as soon as possible. I just don't see why you felt you had to practically yell (ie typing in caps and saying such vicious comments as "Get your facts straight). I treat you as a well-versed soul and you can treat me with respect as well.

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
As for Jun, I did look that up so I guess the Janime site lied to me.

You'll find that Janime's site is rarely as reliable as people think it is. Most webpages list Bakura as 'Ryou' when he is never refered to by that name within the show. I'm assuming a similar mistake was made because it's a common assumption when you are presented with a name to assume everyone uses the personal name and not the family name. I personaly advise everyone not to beleive any website because 75% of them are wrong and even the ones with good information aren't 100% right. If you don't know it from first hand experance in this fandom, doubt it's validity.

I'm not doing this to feel suprior. If I wanted that, I'd go pick apart freewebpages. I'm doing this because I'm sick of seeing this stuff popup all the time. It's far to common that people will download raws, and with no previous knowlage of the shows happenings or of Japanese, they will summerize for everyone else and everyone else will assume they know what they're saying when they don't.

Yes, I probally over reacted. Yes, I was probally a rude bitch. I made a snap judgement from your post that you were yet another fantwit who, in the face of not knowing anything, decided it'd be more fun to just make up stuff and appear witty. I reacted on that, and as it's something that pisses me off, I responded with a bitchy tone.

And I'm not sure what you're refering to with the 'every time' unless you mean every time in this thread as I do not recognize your name from anywhere.

I also capped two words. That does not consitute yelling, just empathsis. And in my opinion, saying "Get your facts stright" is not vicious. It's common sence. Just because it's 'just a journal' doesn't mean that what you say doesn't matter.

[identity profile] nayami.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
I grant that the way the name was presented on the site, I assumed Jun *was* the last name. Though now I see that they have him listed as heir to the Manjoume family so I should have paid more attention.

I accept your over-reaction since I over-reacted in my initial response post because there never has been an instance of the phrase "Get your facts straight" used in any sort of understanding manner. It's an insult, plain and simple. I saw that and went into rant-mode. But I don't want you to think that I reject correction. Most of that response post was fueled by white-hot fury and I said a lot of stuff that would have no logical support.

Not only that, but in my other fandom Naruto we make crappy translations all the time. Of course, we also have the manga knowledge so it's understood that it's just in play. I see that's not the case here and with so many clueless about this season, my information might be detrimental. That's why I went back and fixed it. You see, I do accept suggestions. I just like them to be presented in a way that doesn't make me feel lesser.

[identity profile] franthenut.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 01:23 am (UTC)(link)

Where as I see "Get your facts straight" as being a nurtal coment. "Don't be such a fucking idoit" or similar is how I;d say it as an insult. Not that I expect you to know this really, but I've never really seen/experanced 'Get your facts stright' to be anything more then a repremand, and a mild one at that.

So basicly, boiled down to perceptions we had: "You moron!" "You bitch!" as our converstaion, eh? ^^

From what little I know of the Naruto fandom, it's not yet overrun by brainless fanthings who argue things that don;'t know anything about, like the Yuugiou fandom is. [because I've had people aruge about the Kaiba/Shizuka thign where their only arugment was 'WELL IN THE MANGA!!!' basicly when they had never seen it.] And yes, since most people don't know a thing about GX but the random bashing that goes around, it is that much worse.

Sorry about the bitchy tone. This fandom just makes me twichy. I probally should just retreat back into KnN farther to get away from it. -_-

[identity profile] nayami.livejournal.com 2005-05-27 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
So basicly, boiled down to perceptions we had: "You moron!" "You bitch!" as our converstaion, eh? ^^

Pretty much. But I'm glad we've fixed that a bit.

I can see your issue with the Yugioh fandom since they do come up with some bizarre shit. The Shizuka thing has always irked me significantly. But don't think that we don't have our own share of fantwits in Naruto. It's something that puts everyone on edge. Sorry I set off your radar. I'll try to be more careful from now on.
