Um...are we supposed to feel bad for Judas?

Went to buy Sims University today. I was disappointed to learn that Uni only allows young adults in the college setting. I'm sorry but after spending four years in college, it's not something I want to replay, evne in jest. So now my only draw to buying Uni is having the compatibility to dowload things from modtheims2, such as that Sasuke Sim. That the modthesim2 site was recently revamped and explodes on me after every few clicks doesn't help the situation. I checked out Nightlife and think that with it's vampires, enhanced romance options, enhanced personality option and new cars, it might be the better buy. But it won't make my game any more compatible snce it doesn't appear to offer specialized styles/items that would be cloned and modded. Both games cost the same and I've been unable to decide.

So I bought the Mirage of Blaze OVA instead. Most DVDs I purchase are done on the whim. I hoped to pick up early Death Note so I hit up Walden. They still had nothing I really wanted but I picked up Duelist 6, FMA 2 and the new manga by Murakami about monsters and such. Maybe since her plot isn't so flimsy she might have to *work* at this story. I also am curous about Whistle. And it has nothing to do with the bishie rival soccer player on the cover of volume 3. I like soccer, even more than I like tennis. But it's already seven volumes into the series and will require much catch up.

As for my really whack purchase, it was a $5 VHS of Jesus Christ Superstar. Rent has me craving showtune movies again. While I refuse to see Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat because Joseph really bores me and is a sap, a local college put on Superstar and perked my interest. I used to love the "I Don't Know How to Love Him" track on my Andrew Lloyd Weber collection. To make matters short, the character was dull as usual. Because aside from Jesus' miracles and naturally turbulent life, the bible doesn't really provide much of a personality for him, and people are too skittish to imagine one. I think this relates to something that bitch was saying on [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants about how people shouldn't take the scriptures into their own hands. Mary Magdalane could have also used some development.

They all got overshadowed by Judas. Now, Judas, moved me. I nearly cried after the whole betrayal thing. His relationship with Jesus' character also confused me. I won't say why. Let's just say I'm a slash fangirl and I'm about to wander into blasphemous territory here. I think it was the whole conflict with Mary Magdalene and how he constantly bitched about how Jesus' character let her touch him. His songs were usually my favorite, although I enjoyed the apostle piece too. He was just an amazing character and his reasons for his actions made sense, even if they were wrong. He was so furious that Jesus' character would forgive him. I would have enjoyed the movie more if it hadn't gone through the whole crucifixation scene. I understand the meaning of reading that in the bible, but I'd rather not see it. Same reason I refuse to watch "The Passion of the Christ." After that whole thing started up, the only watcheable part was Judas return from hell for the big "Superstar" number and watching him still struggle with his feelings for what he had done.

I think if I watch my movie again, I'll only watch the Judas parts and maybe some of the Mary Magdalene stuff. A lot of the songs were less than what I expected from Weber. Only a few were really memorable. Seeing Simon brandishing an assault rifle and cheering on an ecstatic mob was beautiful. The apostles were all very pretty and very modern. Herod? No words. I'd rather not think about his part. I would have appreciated more dialogue to move the scenes. So much just happened.

Ok, I tried to write last night and it went fairly well. And now I won't be able to write decently without a fight since the damn Bro wants his Halo, which involves him saying retarded things outloud to the people he plays with and the irritating fighting sounds. Damn it, the boys were almost subdued today too.
