Sob all I've been doing since I returned from my concert -- which was great! -- is watch musical bits. Then I started pimping the 2000 revival of Jesus Christ Superstar to [livejournal.com profile] realms_of_life and it was all she wrote. I have an irrational love of Jerome Pradon and his Judas always makes me ship things I should not ship. I love the 70s version of Superstar but the hippieverse makes it a little hard to take seriously and the chemistry with Judas/Jesus isn't quite the same as the 2000 version. That said, the 70s version has the better singers. I need to buy the DVD of the 2000 version since I only have VHS and that's all but obsolete now.

Other musicals of the night:
Evita
Les Mis
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
Cats (I love Misto beyond words)
Guys and Dolls

Hmm, it seems I forgot to renew my account. I hate when this happens. Anyway since I'm trying to keep myself away from the OVA-licious versions of the twins for now. God, why does it have to be so hard I am back on my Sweeney Todd kick.

Upon recommendations from [livejournal.com profile] rackhamrose, I sought out the Sweeney Todd in Concert version, with Patti LuPone and George Hearn. I think this is actually my favorite version, despite the lack of sets and the tendency of victims to just walk off the stage. )

Oh yeah, I forgot to say how amazing the dress that Christian and Chris made for their challenge was. I should have known they would be an astounding team. Chris isn't really cut out for this show, but I do love how well he gets along with everyone. He's just a lovable teddy.

Ever since watching Sweeney Todd some weeks ago, I've become engrossed in the story and its incarnations. Most recently, I've been checking out the taped Broadway cast of Angela Lansbury and George Hern. )

Also on this subject, it is insane that I cannot find a full 20-track version of the soundtrack in stores. All that is available is their 17-track highlights with all the dialogue stripped. Why even bother to make another version? It's three friggin' songs. I suppose they want to sell their deluxe version for some trumped up price. This is exactly why people download music nowadays. Because CD companies are idiots! Speaking of idiots, if people hate musicals, they're going to have to be somewhat tolerant if they want to enjoy "Sweeney Todd." Uncultured swine. Hearing people call the movie "gay" just because they sing instead of talk most of the way through makes me want to punch them in the face.

I am so sick of seeing people repeat dumbass rumors on the Geass community as if they were truth. And don't even let me get into people calling Lelouch "Ruru".

Saw Dreamgirls last night. I think I had to be the only person in that theater who went to see this movie without prior knowledge the AI star was in it. I just wanted to see it because it was a musical and from the clips, the music was beautiful. I was not disappointed and was in a fact blown away by the performances. Jennifer Hudson truly lives up to her hype and Eddie Murphy wow. All of the characters were just perfect for their roles. I must have the soundtrack.

I also saw North & South and Snakes on a Plane. North & South is one of the few romance-type movies [livejournal.com profile] quebelly has forced upon me that I have not fallen asleep during it. I was all right with the remake of Pride & Prejudice but only because I enjoyed how pathetically emo its Darcy could be. But North & South had nice cotton mill drama to add to things, making it more than just boring wooing and emotional constipation. As for the Snakes, I thoroughly enjoyed it. It wasn't nearly as bad or as violent as people kept telling me. Everyone I hated died, and the snakes were fun.

Then there was HanaDango drama season 2. The first episode was entirely too long but did include some classic win. Putting spoilers here just in case anyone on my list watches. )

Look at the awesome icon [livejournal.com profile] quebelly made. She rocks so hard with the funny.

Went to buy Sims University today. I was disappointed to learn that Uni only allows young adults in the college setting. I'm sorry but after spending four years in college, it's not something I want to replay, evne in jest. So now my only draw to buying Uni is having the compatibility to dowload things from modtheims2, such as that Sasuke Sim. That the modthesim2 site was recently revamped and explodes on me after every few clicks doesn't help the situation. I checked out Nightlife and think that with it's vampires, enhanced romance options, enhanced personality option and new cars, it might be the better buy. But it won't make my game any more compatible snce it doesn't appear to offer specialized styles/items that would be cloned and modded. Both games cost the same and I've been unable to decide.

So I bought the Mirage of Blaze OVA instead. Most DVDs I purchase are done on the whim. I hoped to pick up early Death Note so I hit up Walden. They still had nothing I really wanted but I picked up Duelist 6, FMA 2 and the new manga by Murakami about monsters and such. Maybe since her plot isn't so flimsy she might have to *work* at this story. I also am curous about Whistle. And it has nothing to do with the bishie rival soccer player on the cover of volume 3. I like soccer, even more than I like tennis. But it's already seven volumes into the series and will require much catch up.

As for my really whack purchase, it was a $5 VHS of Jesus Christ Superstar. Run now if you don't want to hear my love for Superstar's Judas and his questionable role in Jesus' life )

Ok, I tried to write last night and it went fairly well. And now I won't be able to write decently without a fight since the damn Bro wants his Halo, which involves him saying retarded things outloud to the people he plays with and the irritating fighting sounds. Damn it, the boys were almost subdued today too.
