Milly is the true leader of the Black Knights, because Zero is actually her subordinate.
It's time for Celiss words of wisdom on Geass via GameFAQs as always.
I actually think Lelouch is being himself when he's with Kallen. She's about the only person he can and does act like a jerk towards, and is also the only person he ever teases. I find this very interesting, all the more so because he actually enjoys doing it.
The same applies to Kallen as well; for all her apparent "hatred" for Lelouch, she never misses an opportunity to make fun of him, as shown in episode 9, "The Name of the King" and the crossdressing picture drama. The both of them act like immature grade schoolers around each other, and this side of themselves they show only to each other. I think that's what makes their relationship special to me, the way the both of them can readily drop their masks and say or do whatever they want to each other.
Interestingly, the Lelouch x Kallen relationship appears to mirror Fu-kuyama and Koshimizu's relationship in real life: The both of them are constantly making fun of each other, and are known for being great friends. In the recent NT interview, for example, the main 4 VAs are asked what they want their characters to do in the sequel, and Fu-kuyama says: "I want Lelouch to shoot Kallen in the back." Koshimizu immediately protests: "Stoooooop right there!! Whyyyyyyyyy!?"
Some of you might remember that really long, rambling post on "Which Lelouch is the real Lelouch?" I wrote a few months ago, with the conclusion that all the Lelouches we are shown in the show is both Lelouch and not-Lelouch. He is never 100% honest -- he lies even to himself -- but added together he is "Lelouch".
The difference between Lelouch and Suzaku is that prior to episode 25 Suzaku was truly wearing a mask, whereas Lelouch is only pretending to be wearing many. When Lelouch Geass'd Suzaku in episode 18, he turned into Ore-Suzaku (we hear his "Screw the rules!" tone in episode 19), but I get the feeling that if Lelouch were to be Geass'd, there would be no personality changes whatsoever, at least none that the viewer will be able to detect, because what we were shown in the show so far were all (at least partly) "the real Lelouch".
Did that make sense? I hope that made sense
I like C.C.'s thoughts on Lelouch in Stage 1 -Shadow-, especially the part where Lelouch tells her he is "only pretending to be an ally of Justice". C.C. later thinks to herself that Lelouch is always trying to act like a heartless, coldblooded, despicable man -- but he is only fooling himself.
I also like Celiss' take on Lelouch and Milly. I admit that I prefer Lelouch and Milly to Lelouch and Kallen but mostly because Milly is hotter. And I want someone who's perpetually going to make Lelouch's life difficult. I agree with Celiss that Lelouch is probably the most himself when he's around Kallen since then he's not trying to impress anyone and can play at being a bastard while occasionally revealing some of his more caring side, as we see in the Ashford Novel excerpt where Lelouch asks Kallen about her mother. I do love how they both tease each other mercilessly. And there's not the sense of bond/obligation as with C.C. and Lelouch. Damn, it's hard to choose among Lelouch's love interests. They're all so awesome. With the exception of Shirley. Because NO.
Producer Kawaguchi's comments on episode 25:
- The bit with Lelouch using the Liquid Sakuradite wasn't in the script; Taniguchi added it in later because he felt that if Lelouch hadn't done that, Suzaku would have shot him at once and without hesitation. "Because of the Liquid Sakuradite, however, Lelouch turned into a pain in the neck (laugh)"
- A lot of the little things in episode 25 are actually clues and foreshadowings for the second season, C.C.'s kiss with Lelouch being one of them. Pubes also mentioned before this that the kiss will make viewers go "Wait, that was what it was about?" later on, so it looks like this is definitely going to be important.
You know, I think they're right. At that point, Suzaku was pretty damn out of it. A lot of that might have had to do with Lelouch not acknowledging what happened with Euphie. -_-
