"But I can't speak your language; I'm too overwhelmed to try..."
Since I'm a huge Billy Joel fan, I was super excited about his anti-war theme "Christmas in Fallujah." Then I heard the original idea by Jefferson Pepper. I'm sorry but Pepper's version DESTROYS Joel's. There is so much emotion in Pepper's. But Joel is a big name so his influence might have a further reaching affect. I'm just sad that such a moving song couldn't have gotten the attention it deserved when it first came out two years ago. But like the YouTubers say, if it gets the soldiers home any faster, it doesn't matter who had the idea first.
The two lyrics that really leave a message for me are: "But sometimes the names, they get mixed up. If we get them right half the time, that's close enough" and "Don't blame it on us soldiers; we're only doing what we're told."
