"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

Geass fanart, you fail me. I wanted pretty pretty art of Turn 2, and only a handful of you were ballsy enough to do it right. Though I do give a nod to MECCO for her depressing aftermathpicture. All the rest of you are too ice. And Koubou gave me open-shirted Lelouch in a mid-way scene that was every bit as disturbing as I hoped. The rest of you fail. I am disappointed that my truly dark artists such as One Dot Per Inch and Dalc Rose didn't go all out.

Though I am glad people are enjoy Celiss' translations of the final Ashford Chronicle in NewType? Can't you actually feel your heart twisting? They're so good at it.

Last day today...

Hah I so called the sexy contacts. I must now learn how to remove mine with the speed of Lelouch. Without... putting out my eye. I CAN DO IT. Ironically, they are also violet.

I like the talk on GameFaqs about what exactly the Emperor wiped and what Lelouch was left with because I never brought it up in my analysis. I actually thought Lelouch forgot entirely about Suzaku, but that wouldn't work if Milly's throwing a party to welcome him back. So did Lelouch also remember he was a prince? I figure all the stuff with Suzaku and pre-Britannia Japan was lost. GameFaqs said Lelouch might have been told he was studying afar or something, which is really stretching it. Or was he just told he was an ordinary student? Did he know Suzaku was in the military? He would know Suzaku was Lancelot's pilot and a knight, as that was all brought up for the council and outside of the Zero persona. Did he remember Euphie? Episode 21? Clovis? (I would find it completely mesmerizing if amnesiac!Lelouch thought Zero for killed his half-sister and half-brother.) Obviously stuff was done to interfere with his memories of Kallen, even though that's off too, seeing as how she was also an Ashford student. The only clearly memory loss we know was: Marianne, Nunnally and Zero. Anything else is fair game. This makes all those fun fanfiction ideas about the between-year so much more interesting. I also think that it's interesting that those were the pieces the Emperor chose to take away, not just to make Lelouch suffer but because they are the pieces most intrinsically linked to his Zero persona and could possibly serve as triggers. It's seen throughout Turn 1 that Rollo wants Lelouch to avoid "triggers." But I think Suzaku would be a trigger too so why allow him to keep those memories?

Onto Suzaku and Lelouch, I have already said that I think the "kill" Zero to spare Lelouch theory is a bit far-fetched. But I am willing to buy into the notion that Suzaku knew the Emperor wouldn't kill Lelouch. I, by no means, don't assume he didn't expect the Emperor to truly punish Lelouch and make him suffer. And the trade for power was just that. For this reason, I am now willing to believe the KotR scene at the end of Turn 1 is a flash-forward. Maybe the theory that in a twisted and fucked-up way, Suzaku spared Lelouch back in the Emperor's chambers holds more weight. (Though, we can also bring up the whole "fate worse than death," which for Lelouch is being unable to do nothing. But come on, Lelouch is still in a neutral position without his memories. Even if the C.C. plot was told to Suzaku afterwards. I don't think the Emperor has any true intentions to off his son just yet, and I think that's obvious to Suzaku at the point before the "flash-forward".) Anyway, because Lelouch has spurned that action in returning to Zero, he has forced Suzaku to return to his original kill mode as befits his position and his mentality. I still say there is much to be said about "I won't let anyone else have him. *I* will be the one to kill Zero." Maybe there really is more to this than meets the eye. Hmm.

Wow, wait wait wait. Does he remember Suzaku? That's news to me. o_O I just assumed he had forgotten everything about being a prince (because he seems to forget about Marianne AND Charles),his time at Kururugi Shrine gone with that. Now, that makes things way more complicated.

My main question these days is whether Rollo was part of the memories Charles gave him, or if Rollo added himself afterward. Why does everybody accept Rollo? Also, I'm not sure about how deep into the spoilers you are (Milly's welcome party? XD), but I felt there was a story behind Lelouch's return to Ashford, because while he is running from Villetta, somebody says in the background "Oh, it is *that* boy."

The Emperor having no intention of killing Lelouch, and Suzaku being aware of it - it feels a bit far fetched to me, especially the Suzaku part. BUT I've always assumed there must be some written or unwritten rule about killing royals. It's a Holy Empire, isn't it? People tend to be wary of shedding royal blood and, according to Lelouch, Charles enjoys playing his children against each other. My pet theory is that maybe there is something more to Lelouch killing his siblings with his own hands - maybe that is the right way of doing things. Again, food for thought.

I noticed that Lelouch said "my brother and I were thinking about returning to the Britannian mainland" in Turn 1, which gave me the impression that the two weren't here with their families. This, to me, meant that the brothers were either students studying abroad in Japan or their parents were dead. (Speaking of which, I wonder what type of family environment Charles gave Lelouch besides Rollo. Parents? No?)

In any case, I think that one possible scenario is that Charles geassed everyone into forgetting everything they remembered of Lelouch prior to the events of Stage 25. Lelouch (and Rollo) can then be introduced as a new student and work his way into the Student Council Vice Presidency using his own natural charms. This way, the school can remember that Suzaku (and maybe even Kallen) was in the Student Council and welcome him back, while Lelouch and Suzaku would have a plausible reason to not know each other personally.
