I so hating working on Saturdays, but at least that's done now. I've been having a bit of a non-Disney animation from the 80s-90s marathon. I spent the other day watching "Samson & Sally," which is good but very depressing. Poor little whales. I also speed-watched "Happily Ever After," which some of you might remember as the sequel to Snow White, starring the Seven Dwarfs' female cousins. It has some really interesting ideas the villain, Maliss, is nicely dark and scary, but the shoddy animation and ear-grating songs really pull it down. Next on my list is the Japanese version of "Swan Lake," which I mostly love because Siegfried is pretty and it has the ballet music. I also want to try "The Legend of Syrius." I'm looking for other non-Disney/non-Bluth fare to check out. Still trying to get through "The Princess and the Goblin" again.

Have seen:
Watership Down
The Plague Dogs
Flight of Dragons
Lord of the Rings
The Last Unicorn
The Little Mermaid (French version)
Most Ralph Balinski movies
Vux (The Little Fox)
David the Gnome
Little Nemo

Got any recs?

The Legend of Sirius = The Sea Prince and the Fire Child? I remember liking that one as a kid, but I'm not sure if child-me had good taste. Haha, I also remember The Princess and the Goblin.

Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland is awesome. I also think The Thief and the Cobbler is hilarious, but I've gathered that most people disagree.

Thief and The Cobbler, I remember disliking the animation. But I could try it again! I added Little Nemo because I forgot to include it and I watched it a few months ago.

Yeah, the animation is weird, but I love the Thief's inner monologue. Some people hate it, though, since the character was supposed to be silent and the dialogue was added later.

Actually, I did love the inner monologue. I think I heard the controversy about that being added to the dub.

And yes, The Legend of Sirius and The Sea Prince and the Fire Child are the same thing. o/

Last time I watched the Swan Lake anime, I had [livejournal.com profile] light_the_light over and she commented that Siegfried had a yaranaika face. I hadn't been able to enjoy the movie since :(

... I'm going to try to forget that. :(

Swan Lake anime! My childhood.

I also recommend Dreamworks' traditional animation.

I think Dreamworks came closer to the 2000s. I want nostalgia.

They were late-90s, I think. But yeah. Hmmm... all I can think of is tv cartoons.

Hmm, how about the Swan Princess, or Once Upon a Forest?

Also, I have the Princess and the Goblin song on my ipod because it's the reason I liked the movie.

I forgot that Once Upon a Forest wasn't Bluth. But I have seen that one recently as well. Swan Princess is too mainstream for this marathon. Though I do have the "This Is My Idea" song stuck in my head now.

... omg that icon. That must be the origin of the PAINFUL skit I saw at Katsucon between Italy and Holy Roman Empire.

I know I love others, I just can't think of them right now.

The origin?

[identity profile] nayami.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
I some some skin at Katsu where Italy was cross-dressing and giving away his panties or something. He was like Cinderella and was held to Holy Roman Empire by a red string of fate. Sob the memories. ;;
vitani: (We revel in our chains.)

[personal profile] vitani 2010-03-21 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Hahaha, young Italy does canonically wear a dress (young boys at that time often did) and he did give away his panties to HRE when they parted.

[identity profile] nayami.livejournal.com 2010-03-21 07:51 am (UTC)(link)
... I think I want to cry again.

Also, what the hell happened to my English above? I was supposed to say "I saw some skit" instead of making me sound like a perv.
vitani: (I don't have time for dancing.)

Hahahaha, why?
