Past the point of no return?

I'm still whining. I do that. I was thinking about what people are saying about this season of Geass and where it's going and how we will never get the final two episodes. This is probably the second time I've wondered whether the series is "Code Geass" or "Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion." I don't want to believe in the subhead theory since that means the protagonist can change with the next season. Given the nature of a season finale episode called "Zero," I am extremely wary. I know Geass still has many things to address next season, given that they brought it new characters and a OMGSURPRISE in 23, but as much as I loved 23, it definitely put me on edge as far as the series goes. I've heard people say the creator doesn't believe in killing his protagonists and that the production team really likes Lelouch, but I'm not willing to trust this since I've been bitch-slapped before. Then there is Jun's comment about Lelouch being in a "fun" position in the latter part of the series.

I still hold onto my believe that Zero's speech at the end of 23 is him lying to himself. He still has Nunnally after all. Who knows? Maybe she'll end up betraying him as well. Ugh, I so am going to have to find ways to take my mind off this until 24 and 25 roll around. I doubt that's truly possible. When I get obsessed, I get obsessed HARD.

Lulu. ;_;

Well, Lelouch as a habit of fooling himself with pretty words? lol @ Clovis He said all that about preparing to be shot in order to shoot, and he's really not prepared to die. Of course you can argue that he IS prepared to be shot, as in, prepared to dodge/defend/take whatever comes, but if the same reason goes for killing? And there's his Path of Carnage speech. It can depend on his mood, I think, and he's probably feeling very shitty just then.

Taniguchi said "Code Geass is Lelouch's story", he didn't say "Hangyaku no Lelouch is Lelouch's story". Of course he may be kidding at that point. But I'm not resting easy here either...I really, really like Suzaku. But! I don't like him enough to be the lead! Lelouch is best damndest protagonist I've seen in anime, please don't ;_;! And they're saying nothing to help alleviate suspicion WOE.

(Though of course Lelouch probably is holding a record popularity right now, and while Code Geass' salvaged a lot of Sunrise's reputation from GSD, I don't think another Shinn would make anyone very happy)

Lelouch must have really despised Clovis for as easy as it was for him to shoot him. Considering what happened later on, going back to that episode always confuses me. I tend to chalk it up to him being on a power trip and then realizing what he'd gotten himself into soon after and then having a bit more "failure to engage" issues. I think Lelouch's issue with death ties mostly into his issue with losing. Lelouch may not fear losing but he sure as hell doesn't like it. Maybe his Path of Carnage speech makes him feel better because it presents the illusion of him being totally in control of whatever's going on. In fact, it sames the geass is partially in control at the moment since it started all this shit. But yeah, swirling your big floofy cape around and making psycho faces will perk up anyone.

Ah I wasn't sure what the official translation was so I'm glad to hear this, even if it may not be the whole case. The Geass creators are a bit nutty in their descriptions/interviews. I can't wait for the one with Clamp. That ought to be extra special. I'm not even sure if Suzaku would be the new lead. Things almost hint toward a new protagonist, but I'm going to block that idea from my brain because NO. I liked Shinn well enough later on, but still NO. Everyone knows Lelouch is what draws people to this series and what consistently holds them episode after episode. He's everything one could want in a non-cliched, complex and dangerously dark character. That's why I love him. He represents everything I love about the potential in fiction. If they shuffle him to the side, there will be hell to pay!

Yeah, it's a bit inconsistent with his later characterization, especially considering what he said later on the issue. (Re : Suzaku's patricide) I also tend to chalk it up to power tripping---he's been powerless for so long, and spent most of Episode 2 being intoxicated. His happy manic laugh in 2 and his laugh in 23? When he realizes he can destroy Area 11 Britannia and when he IS destroying Area 11 Britannia, I love your contrasts, CG. But then there's also how he spent a long time living in a Clovis-ruled Area 11, and by then he might have lost any affection he might have for Clovis. Imagine this little boy with a wrecked life in a wrecked land, seeing his chess-partner brother coming to rule and thinking everything's going to be fine now...and have all his hopes crashing in flames. For seven years. And 01's massacre. It would be much easier to rationalize and even rejoice, then. Clovis is the symbol of Lelouch's own helplessness.

In Taniguchi's own words, Code Geass' genre is 'Please watch Lelouch' and I must confess I like this genre better than most of the rest. XD He IS everything one could want, even in his 'light' parts. Just so very complex, so very well designed, so very well written. And the creators are not afraid to hurt him and change him, which makes it more heartbreaking awesome. /fangirl

I won't exactly boycott them if they shuffle Lelouch off, BUT whoever takes his place better damn well be FUCKING IMPRESSIVE. Even if he IS a better character, he won't have the attachment. The bar is set ridiculously high. If they can overcome it? More power to them. But it would take a feat rarely done in fiction, in 25 episodes. *snort*

I hope Lelouch doesn't die, though it seems inevitable D: I do have doubts about it happening and not happening though, so who knows....

But lulu is the whole reason I love Geass D: Waaaah.
