Um, this isn't how I remembered the Count
Apr. 10th, 2005 12:01 pmWent to Cherry Blossom Festival with Tom yesterday. It had fun things like calamari and scary tree rangers. Hardly any pink trees, which was disappointing. I think I saw about 50% almost pink ones, one mostly pink tree, and one extremely pink tree, compared with last year when most of the trees were already pink. Still had fun and got some good exercise.
Also saw Sin City. Everyone's already talked this to death so I'll just say that it deeply disturbed me with its graphic nature and violence, but its style appealed to me. The storylines also intrigued me, especially Dwight's with his killer hookers. Creepy Elijah Wood with his Commander Ikari glasses, claws, ninja-powas, and penchant for cannabalism will give me nightmares for some time.
Tested out Gankutsuou last night. The animation gives me a headache and Albert's more of a wuss than I remember from the book. Also unnerved by vampiric Edmond or rather the Count. I like the idea and the way they choose to do the storyline. However, I also went looking for images and ran into the typical devastating spoilers. Knowing how things go down, deciding whether I want the rest of it poses a tough decision. Am I up for another Gungrave-styled anime, where the angst gradually worsens into depression? I don't know. It may be too close to the depressing arc of Naruto right now. Though, my recent acquisition of Meine Liebe might counter it. We'll see.
In the meantime, got to reinstall all of the old files, set up email and ftp, and possibly burn things. Eventually get around to homework too. Blah.
