Episode 9: Limes and Angst
May. 9th, 2003 10:53 pmI decided to watch the first set of Kenshin OAVs today. Man, were they depressing? I swear Kenshin from the TV series must be bumming some drugs off Megumi to stave off the despair. Kenshin's life just sucks. Well, it gets better once he meets Kaoru and the gang but still. Tomoe was amazing. She has to be one of the strongest female charaters I have ever seen in an anime and she barely even spoke. That's one of the things I enjoyed most about the OAVs--how they were able to portray such sincere and tragic emotion with sparse dialouge and relied mostly on imagery and music. Unfortunately, the copy I was watching had no sound for the final volume. >< But Tomoe and Kenshin's relationships has to be one of the most beautiful ones out there. Much better than Kenshin/Kaoru. I think it ranks up there with my favorite pairings, rivaling the power of Sorashi and even Yuki/Shu and Tsuzuki/Hisoka. It made me cry. Though, I still don't get the point of the cross. Can someone please explain this to me? Why did it make his first scar start bleeding?
Get Backers 28 was also excellent. Still filler but not comedy this time. I liked the side characters and Ginji's flashbacks made for good allusions. I think some Ban flashbacks would have contributed nicely to this episode as well. And for once, the Evil Eye bit was very cool. I just love how Ban makes people think that the Get Backers won't accept the request before saying that they will. He is such a tease...in more ways than one.
On writing, I have decided how to handle my lime dilemma. I learned today that I can write one and that I can do it in an almost non-sucky way. Though, I should give warning that almost any lime I write for Psychosis will be violent. Well, maybe not the third one. So I've decided to not actually include these more explicit scenes in the novel and to do fade-outs or allusions and things like that. However, I will post the lime sections within the chapters via an optional link. I will try to make it so that everything still flows without the inclusion of the scenes. I just want them to be extras. As of yet, I plan three--one not being so nice.
This will probably be the way I also do these scenes in "Marked," though that story will have more descriptive allusions toward sexual acts as it fits Raoul's character. I've been getting good ideas for this story as I've gone through my notebook and looked at some old stuff I wrote. Raoul's character will really start to come together for me once I get through the prologue chapters.
