Well, the final episode of Buffy pissed me off fairly well. Joss really should have made it more than an hour long. He needed a whole 2 hours to wrap everything up. Instead, he forced everything into a one-hour box and left us with the mess that we saw Tuesday. My biggest problems with this episode: Angel's actions, Anya's death, random scene exposition and the lack of major scenes for major characters. Angel acted like a jealous ponce. "Do you have to go all Dawson on me everytime I have a boyfriend." Ah, Buffy, one of your few good lines. Buffy's cookie analogy made no damn sense to me but it was cute and good ole Buffy so I won't mock it. I do think that Angel did seem pretty whipped by Buffy but I could care less. He had no purpose being there anyway. Joss just needed a way to give Buffy the special shiny amulet.
Anya was in the series for 5 years and as my friend Dana so aptly put it. "If you'd have blinked, you'd have missed her death." I really hate it that she died for Andrew. Now, I hate him more than I ever did. I did love how she kept up her character until the end.
Andrew: "Think of happy things. Fluffy bunnies."
Anya: *growling* "Bunnies."
And there just wasn't enough of Giles or Willow. Willow was acting so bizarre throughout the whole episode. I'm just glad that there wasn't as much of Kennedy. I still wish Kennedy would have died. That would have been Nayami's best Good-bye Buffy present. But it didn't happen.
Xander was cool. He had his 'welcome to Sunnydale high speech.' Ah, the flashback to season 1 Buffy. The trio was still acting so cheery and bouncy. The memories.
And of course, the big stuff of this ep. SPIKE. I think Angel knew when he gave Buffy the shiny amulet that she was going to give it to Spike. He knew it would give Spike. I blame him. I hate you ANGEL! HATE! HATE! HATE! But Spike made the best champion I had ever seen. But why did he have to tell Buffy that she didn't love him? They look so perfect together, much more perfect than Buffy and Angel ever did. Their scene in bed together was the sweetest part of the ep as was Spike stopping Buffy before she could leave. Today, I watched the "Something Blue" ep and remembered back when Spike and Buffy were cursed and thought they wanted to marry each other. Giles made me laugh with his "Stop! I can still hear the smacking." Ah, back when Spuffy was but a dream. I visited the Angel/Buffy boards the other day. They pissed me off with those morons who kept saying that Buffy still loved Angel more. Did they even watch the ep? Retards! I want more Spike though. How could they blow him up? SPIKE!
And how could they blow up their town? That is just so stupid. I still think the whole demon vs. slayers fight was such a Peter Jackson rip-off. It made no sense. The stuff with Willow casting the spell to make all the girls in the world slayers or something was also weird. And how did Buffy recover from her fatal wound? The power of her anger? Lame. Come on, Joss, we do have some brains. You can't expect us to buy just anything. Dawn forcing Xander to bring her back was sweet. "It's a Summers thing. Very violent." Sweet Xander. How I love you. "Party in my left eye socket and everyone's invited!" Pause. "Sometimes, I just shouldn't talk." Awww. I miss Xander and Anya already.
But Spike!!!
I will never recover until I see what AtS plans to do with him.
