Things I watch when I have no life
Nov. 20th, 2003 02:23 pm1. Smallville
-missed a chunk of this because I became obsessed with DNAngel and Windows Media Maker some time last night. Not that any thing came of it because I forgot to realize how much space avi clips and the actual video take up. I need to figure out how to save clips to disk. Then I can play some more.
-back to Smallville, I liked how Clark kept wanting to believe Lex no matter what. It was sweet. If only Lex hadn't have been nuts. It was really sad at the end how Lex figured out that Clark wasn't human but probably won't remember because of his psychotic episode. And why is Lionele being all bastardly again? I thought he was over that for the moment. I did like how Lana realized why Clark wanted her to stay away. Guess it just had to be knocked into her.
2. Angel
-I'm a bit disappointed with this one because I had hoped for more flashbacks and what we got was sparse. I did like the buddy-buddy thing Angel and Spike had going on in the beginning. Angel was almost like Spike's daddy. Actually, I guess he was his grandfather. I'll stop now before I make myself ill. 0_o
-The bleeding eyes thing was cool but I think I missed exactly why that was occuring. And I'd rather not hear bitch Eve give herself a pity party to Fred. Amusing how the first thing Spike does once he's corporeal is boff Harmony. He even told her about how his mother had tried to shag him. "That explains a lot." XD
-Angel vs. Spike for the chalice, Shanshu prophecy thing was weak. Their fight was cool but the whole premise was dumb. I did like how they kept trying to out-hero each other. And Angel's whiny "I lost" speech was precious. I love when Angel loses.
-BEST OF ALL: LINDSAY's back! Yeah, he was shagging Eve but I'll tolerate it for one night just to revel in the joy that he's back. I missed Lindsay and we need some of the old Wolfram & Hart crew back for a whiles. Though, not sure Lindsay would be working with Wolfram & Hart since he left because he had issues with their policies. Maybe he's just working for something evil. That'll be OK.
3. Sailormoon Live Action Ep. 7
-Yes, I continue to watch this. =P
-The fight in the beginning of this was actually well done. Had it not been for the stupidity of the straw-man monster they were fighting, I would have been wowed. But they got Tuxedo Mask's cane twirl action down pat and the Sailormoon tiara fling isn't ultra-retarded. Sailormoon is also a bit more hard-core when it comes to fighting in this version. If you hurt her Tuxedo Mask, prepare to pay.
-Ah, Motoki finally got his name in this ep, which is good because I forgot what his Japanese name was. So used to calling him "Andrew." Dub girl. Motoki has a cute charm but is utterly clueless. Very different from traditional Motoki. Of course, Usagi figured him to be Tuxedo Mask again. Interestingly enough, it wasn't that she was particularly crushing on Motoki. I love Motoki and his turtle fascination.
-I really liked this episode because it does the one thing that I enjoy most about this version. It is incredible with characters. Mamoru is much more fully developed as far as his character goes. He's not one-dimensional like the anime. The scene where he needs to hold Usagi's hand in the maze because he can't stand getting lost is brutal. And I just enjoyed him getting bossed around by Makoto. Rei got the dorky guy with hiccups, who turned out to be the monster. Poor Rei.
-Usagi is also much less annoying. She is actually cute in this. Her annoyance with Mamoru seems more genuine and less "nyah nyah" than it was in the anime. Notice, I forget much of the manga. All I know is that the manga was darker in general. I think that's the style the live action is going for. You see a lot of this in the stuff with Sailor V.
-The Generals all get to hang at the same time. None are dead yet so it's fun to watch them all snark at each other, especially Jaedite and Nephrite. Yeah, I know it's supposed to be Zoicite and Nephrite, but I think these two are more amusing. My one complaint is that Zoi looks pretty bad. Not pretty like he's supposed to be. Maybe his personality will make up for that later on. Aside from that, Jaedite gets more character development than he's ever had, but Nephrite annoys me with his liking of Beryl. Uck. Not my Nephy.
-Only warning is that one must always remember before watching: THE FIGHTS & MONSTERS ARE BAAAAD!!! Once you get past the laughing my ass off factor, the show is arguably better than the anime. Well, in character anyway and that's all I ever really care about. ^^
