I'm really getting into these editorials and columns about the Iraqi elections. For the first time, I actually enjoy learning about each side (whether they're praising Bush for his "success," commending the Iraqi people for their courage, or warning that this entire event hardly displays *actual* demoncracy because of the blind voter scenario). Either way, it shows that the majority of the people do have an interest in the democratic process and that it is something to respect after our nation's last demonstration of apathy. These voters show how precious the right to a free vote really is. Though, I had to note the columnist who contrasted the Administration's aid with the elections to the numerous incidents of friendly fire that were involved in getting here.

Had my first fictional writing class today. Surprise, surprise, it didn't suck. The prof didn't really care if all of us didn't have a story since we already met our quota of three stories to start off the semester with. He was quite pleased. Hell, he even told me that he wouldn't mind helping me with my novel if I would care to bring in the first 100 pages and a prospectus. Following this statement, I went through the typical stages of shock, delight, and then horror. It's the first time a professor here even offered to see my novel. I think this means that I won't have to write short fiction and can instead revise the first few chapters of Psychosis. *DEAD* Is my fiction writing class actually telling me I can write what I WANT? Is it actually not chaining me down to my style of trite incompleted AKA short fiction? Words cannot contain my joy at being told I can work on my novel for class. However, here comes the TERROR. I started Psychosis in my freshman year and as many of my reviewers have told me, the initial chapters are hideous beyond reason. The plot is sketchy, the setting is nonexistant, and everything is so contrived it's almost laughable. That and then there's the...slash. I don't know if that really comes up immediately in the first few chapters so it may not be a problem for now but I also have to consider how important that subplot is to the story and whether it should be mentioned in the prospectus. I never planned as much of the story to revolve around the Luce/Nick relationship as later panned out. So yeah, I'm edgy about presenting that idea to my professor. Other than that, it should force me to revise the beginning of the story and make it not suck, as I've been putting off doing for a long while now. Hee, I can finally whittle away all those vague-anime/fangirl references that plagued the original copies.

Oh yeah, I'm am SCREW-ED. But now I have a reason to work on Psychosis all semester so yay as well.

I also have the most stupid desire to try [livejournal.com profile] 30_kisses for Yami/Seto or Atem/Set. Someone please remind me how awful my fanfiction is and talk me out of it before the drive becomes serious. ;_; HOWEVER, you can't use "writing Yugioh slash is stupid" in your argument because then I'll just cry.

1. Comment with any ship from a fandom that you know I like, loathe entirely, or at least have some knowledge about. (If you don't know any of the series or pairings I like, just look over yonder my interests list.)

2. I will ramble for 100 words about aforementioned ship. This may be incoherent gushing or exclamations of disgust, depending on what it is. If you pick a rather special pairing, I'll probably not be able to keep it at only a hundred words.)

3. Put this on your LJ, if you are so inclined.
