All right, it's one thing for the slash fans to fight with the het fans. It's another for the slash fans to fight with other slash fans about whose pairing is truly canon or reasonable. But you pass all points of sanity when you're arguing the "Who's on top" question. Does it *really* matter? Case in point:
true_sasunaru, a community devoted exclusively to making sure that Sasuke is always the big scary seme and that Naruto is always the moaning nelly bottom. Generic assumption on my part, I assure you, but when you make a community for such a ditzy reason, you earn it. This is why I write slash. To prove that the whole appeal of the male/male dynamic is the bloody equality. There is no "weaker" sex. The characters fit together so well because they understand each other and neither really lords over the other. One could easily knock the other down to size if he got too pushy or aggressive. Granted, this assumes relationship status and not just meaningless fuck, which the majority of yaoi boils down to and the reason I have such trouble classifying myself as a real yaoi fangirl. But especially with a pairing like SasuNaru, don't demean the depth of their relationship by throwing them into the same stereotypical pot as every other group of pretty boys ever slashed for aesthetics. Yeesh, it's like people completely disregard the idea of switching. I mean, for me, that's one of the big draws of slash, the possibilities. Assigning "pre-determined" roles of uke/seme ruins the fun. *banishes scary Gundam Wing fandom flashbacks*
In other news, the 10th episode of Avatar results in much screaming of "Rufi-ooo" thanks to the total rip-off that is Jet's character. But hey, the plot's still good. Avatar knows how to both "borrow" traits but stay fairly original.
I need to watch KKM 45 again to soothe my mind.
