Missed Avatar again, and the one time I have the chance to see it on a Saturday, they are re-running Southern Air Temple. Grr, I wanted to see young Zuko and his righteous rage. Not like I can use the crappy irc channel everyone suggests.

I love love love Natsuo and Youji. I most adore Natsuo's childish grin whenever he's excited or calling someone cute. He's almost like bordline crazy but extremely happy about it. How could I not love him? And he's smart too. Both him and Youji are. If I had a Youji, I would cosplay Natsuo in a heartbeat at Otakon. But since I don't want to deck Tom out in kitty ears and accessories, I shall just be my lonely, little Yayoi.

Soubi freaked me out in 9 because he was so insistent, my original problem with him in the beginning. But the way he does it, he seems so zoned and driven, like he's required or maybe because he's so desperate to have someone who cares for him. He doesn't know how else to express it other than affection and supplication. I'm starting to get the impression that something was off in his relationship with Seimei. As much of a hottie as Seimei is. I just don't know what to think of Soubi sometimes. But I'm no longer blaming him and instead focusing on his issues. I don't think Soubi really wants to pressure Ritsuka; he's just...programmed that way. *shrugs*

How come Ritsuka is the only one with a regular tail and everyone else's seems clipped. Someone brought this up a while back and I brushed it off but after seeing more than half the series, I want to know. I think this series would gain a wider audience if it weren't for the kitty elements. I know they represent the difference in the sexually mature, but I don't see what that matters either. I guess it does a bit for Yamato and Kouya, but it's not like Nagisa-sensei cares. I've yet to see any evidence that proves that the kitty elements are more than a quirk for the series, which has plenty of its own original concepts flying about. I think it could do just fine without them. While I get my kicks out of them, now that I *get* the storyline, I do believe they are a turn-off to people. It's all a matter of taste. But they make people see Lovless in a very jaded light. I want someone to explain to me why the kitty elements are so damn important. Or I could just chalk them up to being the artist's fancy and accept that if the ears scare of readers/watchers, there's not much one can do about it.

Just three more episodes? WHY?

I had to make the Zero boys to show my love. This one is replacing my beloved Otogi dice roll one. But this one makes me squee more. Natsuo! I need to find Zero fanart/fanfiction.

I dislike when I try to tell people that I'm having trouble with an IRC channel/server and they reply to me like I'm retarded, telling me how to use IRC or simply repeating the channel words. Grr, what part of "Channel won't load" makes it seem that I'm not using IRC or idling in the channel or whatever.

Bought Duelist 5 and HikaGo 4 today. Duelist 5 is god! I could write my entire Yami/Kaiba analysis using it alone. The slash is far more rampant than in the anime, with Kaiba and Yami both going on about how the fight exhilerates them and with Kaiba explaining how he admires Yami's strategy and why he's the only one that could ever defeat Pegaus and how they are destined to fight each other. Not to mention that it's clear how psychotic Kaiba is in this volume, with his threatening to slam his briefcase closed on Croquet's neck, his gun play, and his honest belief that if he can't save Mokuba, his life means nothing. It's still partially a threat because he knows Yugi and Yami so well, but there's more of a sense of honesty in the manga. You see Kaiba actually standing down Yami's final attack with this totally acceptant expression, just before Yugi intervenes. The whole fight is more intense than the anime. It's the best volume yet, though I only read the First Series Yugioh once and not in such detail as I went through this one. I also found it touching that Mokuba is the one who put the card pendant on Kaiba while he was unconscious. Kaiba was sweeter toward Mokuba at this point in the anime, but in this you see how truly crushed Kaiba is at realizing that he failed his brother in many ways up until this moment. Manga!Kaiba seems more complex in this way than Anime!Kaiba, especially with attempts to recover the missing pieces of his heart. It sounds corny but it's done really well, with child!Kaiba giving hints and death glares.

Some thoughts on KaiJou and what makes me dislike its fandom while still enjoying the pairing. )

EDIT: Cross-posting KaiJou essay to [livejournal.com profile] yugi_fans because I'm some sort of masochist or as [livejournal.com profile] quebelly tells me, I'm just no good at making friends.

Avatar 12 moves a bit fast and is entirely random exposition, but it's stuff Ive been waiting for for a long time. Aang's past. Zuko's past. SMILING ZUKO! Pure depression after that. Loved the twist, which [livejournal.com profile] aquariankiss insists was revealed earlier and I just missed it.

Caps for Episode 12 Storm )

Gonna have to get up early to finish essay before I drive home. ;_; Too much on Kaiba and not enough on Yami. Oh well, at least I'll have more than enough to say about their relationship.
