Vermillion Bird of the South
May. 4th, 2007 01:24 pmFinished Oz Season 4. ( Thoughts in here since they're spoilery. )
sapphira_angel made an observation a few weeks ago that I just came across and found very poignant.
Suzaku's name makes sense now. He's reborn each time his reality is destroyed.
Does this mean that the post-23 Suzaku is an entirely different animal from young Suzaku? Young Suzaku was a bitch but he also had this side of him that couldn't stand seeing people bullied and secretly wanted someone to connect to. I don't know why but I get the feeling that young Suzaku was very much a loner. Post-23 Suzaku seems cold and vicious, with those gorgeous murderous eyes, but lacking the pride that was such an integral part of young Suzaku. The magazine pictures hint that he might also still have his "warrior knight" persona he had as fake Suzaku (or the persona in which he lied to himself) so he might actually be a compilation of all his previous forms. Not mention, regardless of his persona, Suzaku can't seem to escape the baptism of fire.
