So I intended to get home an hour ago. Unfortunately, a car just ahead of the car I was driving behind suddenly BURST INTO FLAMES. That was... awkward.

It fit into my strange weekend, which consisted of watching "Hereafter." As for whether I liked the movie, well I'm a Matt Damon fan so I will watch almost anything with him. I will say that it would have been an infinitely better movie if it had just been the kid stalking Matt Damon for most of the movie while he tried to find the reporter. I would like to rewrite this movie.

Gabi and I also finally carved our pumpkin. It was very small since all of the big pumpkins had been taken by the time we stopped by the store, and they didn't refill until the next day. But it was a fun adventure, and I didn't injure myself so yay. There was also Togainu no Chi, which is dreadfully dull without the yaoi, Legend of the Legendary Heroes, which really should have just followed the novels instead of spending too much time trying to be Slayeresque because it's very interesting now that it has a plot and of course Star Driver, which broke formula and actually gave some of its characters motivations. Also, there was silly yaoi fanservice so it gains an amusement point for that.

I think my eye is dying again. Of course.

So much stress. Also losing ability to see screen. I swear, and this time I'm serious, if this isn't cleared up tomorrow, I'm cutting work and going to the doctor.

I think it's time for one of my yaoi rants, seeing as I've been reading lots of fics and checking out doujin. A mini-version this time. )

In other ranting news, um... I don't like it when people tell me who to vote for. I'm cool with encouraging others to vote. But at this stage of the game, most people are friggin' tired of rhetoric from either side. I mean, I could tackle the Fairness Act, which so many conservative radio hosts are so vehemently protesting for fear of its return with Obama. But it makes a lot more sense to reserve that discussion for after the election.

Quotes of the day:

-"I vote because I get a free sugary cookie." "No, dumbass, that's when you give blood."
-"I vote because I want to bitch about the machines."
-"I vote because I like the 'I voted' sticker." "They didn't tell me you don't get one if you vote absentee. :("
-"I vote because ACORN pays me."
-"If I vote from "commie" Virginia, does that mean it's not a REAL vote?"
-"I sell my vote on e-Bay."

So here's the crack icon doujin that I promised warned you about earlier today. Honestly it's just Graham and I going through my Geass icons in order and making up the worst yaoi story known to man. This is a bit different from what we originally had, Graham, since I can't remember the end and I chickened out on the non-con. ;_; Honestly, this isn't brain-safe for ANYONE.

Your worst stereotypical yaoi fic ever. As told in icons! )

Ugh, gotta go do the working thing now. But "La Esperanca" rocked much more than I thought. I'm willing to pay the $13 to keep up with this series. Hell, I'm even willing to buy it offline if Walden won't cooperate. The characters are very appealing, from the perfect devout main character GEORGES, the bad boy with the dark tragic past (but not one of your detached bad boys; this one lives to start shit and tease the hell out of main chara) ROBERT, the over-protective best friend HENRI, the spoiled prince who only wants the main character to pay attention to him FREDDY and the vengeful rival of the bad boy (something to do with his dark tragic past)ALAIN. It could be cliched but the main character does have a strength to him that keeps him from being your typical uke, the other main character is darker than your typical seme-type but confused enough that you see his mind games are out of his control and the storyline itself is interesting. I like the destroy the innoncent motif the manga has going for it. Without the borderline-raping style most yaoi toss in.

"Beyond my Touch," on the other hand, was cute but kinda cliched. Your typical angst boi meets bouncy boi and love is afoot fare. But the bouncy one was so adorable that I wasn't disappointed with my purchase.

I notice I'm posting more than usual, but that doesn't surprise me. My posting is usually proportional to how much fandom I'm into at the time, be it manga/anime/books/whathaveyou. I might restart my manga blog at least. I think I might save the anime part of it for only those series that I'm into enough to gush about.

Love finding sane Naruto fanpeoples who can argue claims that I may not agree with in a civil and completely sortable way.

Saw a deer today during one of my nature hikes. I know, you're all like no big deal you can see them on the road all the time. I know you can also see them in the zoos. When I was in Utah, I had a pair walk right up to me and eat deer kibble from my hand. But this was different. I was walking through the hiking trails in the woods, half-bitching because nothing I was seeing would be of any use in my assignment because winter doesn't exist. Then I hear this loud noise and I look up to see this huge white tail about five feet in front of me. The deer dashes foward a little, putting something more like 15 feet between us. Still not hardly far enough. Then I stop moving because I'm having this cool "one with nature" moment, and the deer also stops and looks straight at me. So we're looking at each other, and the deer's twitching her huge white poof of a tail; she's a doe. She had the prettiest black eyes. I'm kicking myself yet again for not bringing the camera. I think we just stood there and watched each other for nearly 15 minutes. I guess it was cool for me because she was a "wild" animal and not one of those tame deer that wander the streets or by people's houses. She was scared of me. When I moved again, she jumped forward about five feet at a time. I wasn't expecting her to be that big either.

Went to mall afterwards, mostly because I was pissed I dirtied up Sci with my shoes from the hiking trip. Bought Banana Fish 10, Yami no Matsuei 9, Angel Sanctuary 12 Bleach 10, some yaoi/shonen ai/slash/erotica/whatever known as La Esperanca and Beyond My Touch. The latter looks the best. I want to buy more of these one shot yaois since they're expensive and my store is so bad at getting volumes of the series. I got them because they looked like decent slash romance without sex. Yes, yaoi sex tends to make me roll my eyes unless I really like the characters. The uke and seme thing rankles me so. What sort of fangirl am I? Also bought DNAngel 10, which I already have but am an idiot, and books stores suck when it comes to returning manga. I'm amassing quite a pile of duplicates. I blame it on my random buying nature. Now to spend some good quality time reading all my manga.
