New York City was FUCKING COLD. Lion King was awesome though, even if I did think Mufasa was over-acting, Simba was understated when it came to his singing and some of the new songs were shoddily integrated with the story. Also, Greyhound buses suck and I will never use them again. I think Greyhound ruined my New Year's LJ resolution. Oh well, here's hoping for better luck this week.

My car battery died this morning because I left on all the lights Sunday while trying to get Sasuke-neko out. But some kind old lady helped me with it... after my roommate showed up and promptly went inside and shut the door. Never change, roomie.

I forgot to bring a book to work with me today. I was debating on playing KH at work since now that break is over I don't really know when I'm going to find the time to play it. I can't play games and do other things. I have to be totally focused. Anyway since I only really care about Squaresoft in passing, let's go back to the readings. My options are my Percy Jackson set, my Code Geass set or some other books I have lying around. I think after I read Percy Jackson, I'm going to pick up the Hunger Games.

I need to go pass out for a bit because I was up from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. yesterday. Find me some non-evil cats so I can warn Sasuke-neko if she doesn't stop being a pill, I will do a trade-in.

Birthday is coming! I really want fic to go with my trip to The Lion King on Jan. 3. Yes, I actually did convince Tom to go with my to New York. Super excited!

I apologize for my zoning lately. I'm just having family time and trying to avoid the icy mess of death that's probably my outside. I need to go shopping for Dad's present. Also, I'm skipping out on the newest anon meme since I only have one game and we already did our love-ins.

ETA: Why can't more of VK be Yuuki hanging out with Aidou? He always brings out the super cute in her. That's why I think Aidou is such an amazing part of the VK cast. He is a catalyst for bringing out the most interesting, hidden sides of everyone. Aidou is more than the fanservicey pretty boy that a lot of fans seem to take at surface level. I think I'm beginning to understand why Hino is using him sparingly now. Too much is revealed whenever Aidou is around and she wants to space it out. Fair enough. He's still my absolute favorite.

I really did enjoy Yuuki in this chapter, especially at the end. Zero and Kaitou too. Mild spoilers? )

Well, Blizzard of 2009, you are small but enough to keep me from both the stores and the post office today. I tip my hat to you.

I really want to see the Lion King on Broadway. I would kill for this opportunity. I will find a way. "Shadowland" is just so powerful, and I love the development of Scar in the "Madness of King Scar". Also Simba's new song "Endless Night".

And the damn cat managed to run off with my tribble in the middle of the night.

I am debating renaming my main OC from "Psychosis" to Desmond because I feel the name is more in line with his characterization than Ty or Tyrell. Plus, Desmond means gracious protector and that's pretty awesome. That and Des is a cooler nickname than Ty. I think way back in the day I had an Australian shepherd character named Desmond. He fought a tiger or something. Either way, I love the name and want to use it for one of my novels. Yes, I realize this will cause some clashing between Desmond and Dominic, but since Dominic is mostly known as Nicky, I think it will be doable. This change will go along with me actually making Des (Ty) into a semi-formidable fighter/swordsman as he was originally supposed to be, to harken back to his Alistar ancestral linkage, and less of a throwaway. Desmond and Kathryn Fatine. I like it!

I am going to make my cookies tonight! I'll probably be baking forever but it'll be awesome. Provided my roommate does not decide to give running commentary.

I've been slack on my political commentary since I like to be perky during my holidays. We might even get snow Friday. So I just want to laugh at the term "aughties". Dorks. Speaking of dorks, I am still so hyped up about the Princess and the Frog. I think I've decided that Tiana is my second favorite princess, just under Belle. Mulan ranks three, even though she's not really a princess. I guess that makes this list a Top Disney Females list or something. And well, the other princesses all kind of fail. They're adorable but examples of strong-willed women they aren't. Ariel was close but loses credit for being willing to risk losing her life for a guy she knew for 10 seconds. Jasmine... well, Jasmine is a bitch. Enough said. Honorable mentions include Jane, Nala, Esmeralda, Megara (who loses some points for the terrible writing at the end of Hercules) and yes Bianca. Pocahontas was a bit dull.

I loved the Lost chat on WaPo today with Doc Artz. Great theories getting thrown around there.

Everyone is either whining about the Disney/Marvel match-up or talking up Kingdom Hearts. Me, all I want is to see Mickey Mouse dressed up as Spider-man. Make it happen, Disney. But barring that, these options look pretty classy too. BTW, Disney "says" the acquisition won't affect the Universal theme parks. Don't hold your breath.

I finished Wizard and Glass. All in all, I was disappointed with where they took Susan. She got awfully "fridgy" and helpless throughout the whole final half, after she finished killing people, and basically got dragged from one group to the next. Not to say, her final scene wasn't disturbing as hell. But things ended too abruptly for that entire back-story. Can't complain though since my ka-tet is back in the saddle and riding high with that nifty Wizard of Oz homage and the even better unity of the group at the end. Seeing Roland actually trying to push people away because he loves them shows me that tall, dark and ugly has FINALLY grown up. Probably won't last but I will cherish this moment. Plus, he gave Eddie's joke and they held hands. Swoon. I want a picture of Oy in his ruby booties. I've heard some bad things about Book V from associates so we'll see how this goes. I want to say Wizard and Glass was my favorite, but it had too much of Roland's earlier ka-tet. If I can take the current ka-tet moments from this book and combine them with The Waste Lands, I'd have the perfect book. For now, The Waste Lands remains the best. Also, I think I'm in love with Flagg.

I have spent the last few days either watching kiddie shows or Disney movies. I have to say that I was not at all fond of Mulan 2, mostly because they destroyed Mushu's character beyond recognition. Shang was kind of lame as well. I think the only person who retained any of her original personality was Mulan. I guess that's something. I also found my old Russian favorite The Magic Pony, but ironically it's only available in Russian with English subtitles, and I don't want to listen to the original. I'm used to the English dub.

Tom and I hung for a bit yesterday and watched the Dr. Who Christmas special. It was meh. I'm tired of 10 and his saaaaaad and alone emo. He is the most emo Doctor of all of them. I also want to figure out what's going on with Torchwood lately since Tom's explanation of its airing schedule confused me.

All in all, it's been a lackluster weekend.

I protested the icky vampires by going to see Bolt. It was so cute and touching and perfect. I love John Travolta as the little dog. And the hamster is still the most awesome thing ever. A++ Disney. I even enjoyed the over-the-top caricatures of agents and directors.

So I'm now addicted to the silly Enchanted music, which means I have to sit through AMVs of the Disney Princesses. Have I expressed my hatred for them lately? I can't believe Disney wants the early ones to be role models. They are passive, useless bimbos who depend on their animal friends or their equally dull prince for everything. It's why I hate that Ariel, Belle, Jasmine and Mulan are included in this set. The latter group represents some sense of empowerment and personality. Jasmine is the weakest of these four, but she was smart in tricking Jafar so I'll give her points. I can't put my hatred of Snow White into words. Cinderella at least stands up to her family once in a while. Aurora was somewhat playful if still clueless as all get-out.

That said, the Disney princess meme reminds me of that hatred. I just wanted to share that.

All the Disney talk on the GameFAQs message board has me imagining various image songs for the Geass characters. Yes, I'm too lazy to sign up for the board to contribute. =P

-Part of me has this insane vision of Suzaku in his Alex Dino singing Dodger's "Why Should I Worry" for no other reason than the shades. XD It fits J-Fandom's obsession with Suzaku as a dog. Though my true Suzaku song is Tarzan's "Son of Man." I also like "Kiss the Girl" from Little Mermaid (the remake poppy version) for the SuzaEuphie song.

-Nunnally gets "Candle on the Water" from Pete's Dragon. Easy but whatcha gonna do?

-Zero really does get "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" from Great Mouse Detective as chosen by [livejournal.com profile] crazythorn XD I cannot top that with any of my guesses. Though I also do like "That's my Lullaby" from Lion King 2, but I'm cheating since it's too close to "Be Prepared."

-Oh yeah, I like giving Lelouch "I'm Still Here" from Treasure Planet because it's my intelligent/broody song. "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" from Lion King (Elton John version) for my cracky pre-22 SuzuLulu song. Ignore me. I go "Best of Friends" from Fox and the Hound for SuzaLulu when I'm being sane but still pre-22.

-C.C. gets "One Last Hope" from Hercules for a very caricature version of her choosing of Lelouch. I like "Beauty and the Beast" from Beauty and Beast for my LuluCC song if I wanted to be all mature about it. I don't know why either. 0_o

-Pre-22 Euphie is totally "Part of Your World" from Little Mermaid for Euphie's 11 love. Also a "Spoon Full of Sugar" from Mary Poppins. And the evil side of me goes "Once Upon a Dream" from Sleeping Beauty for LuluEuphie. shoot me now.

-For some crack reason, Kallen won't give me anything but "I'll Make a Man Out of You" from Mulan. It really hurts me because she would seriously pwn Zero at training the Knights. And in a way, Kallen does make a man out of Lulu with her encouragement. You know what, just don't ask. Oh wait, saner pick is "Reflection" from Mulan (Christina Aguilera version) yay. Also possibly "I Won't Say I'm in Love" from Hercules.

-Honorable mention goes to "Everybody Wants to Be A Cat" from Aristocats. I don't know why but it's just such a hot image to see Millay doing this all the while doing her kitty cosplay. I can see her making the gang sing it too during their cat festival.
I'm still 0_o that a Disney song actually uses "If you want to turn me on..."

I'll come up with more later. Damn it, now I want to make matching icons.

All those things I said I was going to do didn't get done because I decided to go off on another one of my fruitless SuzaEuphieLulu or LuluEuphie hunts. Found nothing naturally, but I did happen across a gem of its own.

http://alice.x0.com/: Not only does this site have one of the hottest original outfits for Lelouch ever, but it centers on Cornelia. Before this site, I would have said the cutest thing in Geass is Euphie. Now I know it to be child!Cornelia. Young!Cornelia/Young!Guilford takes third place. I should warn though, this site is much of the incest. Cornelia gets around. At least she looks like she wants to punch Lulu in the face in some of these.

I also saw Bambi II, which I expected to suck. It didn't. It wasn't really the usual Disney sequel fare in that it was sweet but not syrupy (I could have done without Thumper's sisters). The storyline of Bambi trying to win his father's approval and trying to find his own inner strength was touching, I admit it. I liked the movie. It was pretty and had nice music. I think I liked it better than the original Bambi because the original Bambi has very little dialogue, and I prefer the actual novel either way. Bambi II I could almost entirely distance from the novel and enjoy it on its own merits. Ok I think I've gone on long enough about the kiddie movie now.

ETA: I lied. I link to the pretty lyrics of the Bambi II songs now. They're far too happy for my soul, but I don't mind. They make me smile. Also, the third song isn't as great as the other two since it's a bit poppy, but when combined with the scenes from the movie it's all right. I'm too lazy to find OST so I just mooch off YouTube.

Yay, I now have a RikuSora to share with the world without fear of getting bitch at for spoilage.

Trying to get father to bring home "Brokeback Mountain." While it's not the god of movies some proclaim it to be, I enjoy cussing at Enis and wanting to snuggle poor Jack and tell him it's going to be all right. Also, the music.

I want to know what moron decided to call Chicken Little a good movie? It has about TWO good things going for it. Two. The fish with its head in a bowl because it amused me and the fuzzy alien because it made cute noises. Everything else about that movie was a disaster. The pacing was off, the whole "look my tension with my dad's resolved no wait it isn't" was stupid, and I was unconvinced with how easily the characters were able to solve their problems. The stupid romance didn't help because it seems just required since you have a male main character and his best friend is a girl. Nothing really added up, and it was just boring to watch. Then it had to toss in all those damn singing sequences. I do not need characters who sing karaoke EVER. And what was with the pig and divas? Traumatizing.

So Clamp's going to Anime Expo. The scary thing is I mentioned this to my father, and he completely understood what I was talking about. I don't even remember the last time I mentioned Clamp around him. The man ignores almost everything anime-related that comes out of my mouth but mention Clamp around him and he can name any series by them I've ever bought or mentioned. This is the same man who thought for the majority of my Kingdom Hearts 2 play that Axel was the main character. When I explained to him the main character was a 15-year-old dork, he was oddly disappointed.

I really need to catch up on my anime-watching before I really fall behind.

I have very bad feelings about the Black Cat anime. Its denial of my Eve/Leon and non-return of Jenos to this point reminds me the anime has a very angst-based storytelling style. And last episode titles such as "A Selfish Cat" or "Cat's Paradise," the second-to-last episode are not encouraging.

The SasuNaru AMV contest results are in, and I'm argumentative about some of the contestants. Because I can, I might do a little rundown of all of the vids I watched with their pluses and minuses. Overall, people need to learn that a song with the perfect lyrics loses all effect when paired with the wrong scenes. In other words, do not pair loud music with the almost-kiss or Sasuke being half-dead. -_-

Realized I lost my Def Lepard CD yesterday so I decided to buy a new one. I didn't have enough money and planned on hitting up the ATM. While I'm on the way to the mall, I get smacked in the face with a five dollar bill. There's about $7 worth of cash on the ground, one more $5 and two $1. I look around to see who could have dropped it, and there's nobody. I'm not going to say I felt horrible about claiming the money as my own. It's not as if someone could run up and recover it. And it was in the middle of the street. Also, Def Lepard. *whine* So I purchased my CD with my dirty money, thinking the whole time it was probably forged because my luck is like that. That's your zen for the day.

Watched Fox and the Hound today on ToonDisney. It pointed out a lot of things that piss me off about kid movies. One, the lady raises the fox from a cub and then when his life is in danger from the hunter, she takes this house-broken animal and dumps it in an animal preserve, assuming it will survive. Has nobody seen Born Free? Wild animals raised as pets do not have the honed instinctual capabilities to survive in the wild. In the city maybe. There's always food to be found and the only major threats are cars or crazy people. In the wild, other animals might seriously injure them and they have a high likelihood of starving.

Two, the hunter is going after the fox and runs into a bear. The bear naturally roars at him, and the hunter shoots it in the arm. Then the rest of the scene the bear is the main bad guy with both the fox and the dog fighting it off, with the bear eventually going over a waterfall and knowing Disney, probably dying. What the hell did the bear do? That asshole shot him. I'd want to attack someone who shot me.

Three, did I mention the hunter broke into an animal preserve, set fire to an area of the preserve, possibly killed a bear inside and left metallic traps all throughout the place? And there is no penalty for this. He gets his foot stuck in a trap and then goes home with his dog, and they all forget about the whole thing. The guy should have been sued. I am not empathizing with some guy who just jeopardized the whole preserve. I know we're supposed to be all about balance and seeing both sides but I want some retribution. This is what you get when you take a story about the bittersweet and realistic friendship between a fox and a hound, which ends as one would expect when based from the hunter's view, and try to make it into a fluffy kid-friendly movie. Don't believe me. Look up the actual book. It's not pretty. And I quote: "The story of Tod the fox who befriended a hunting dog named Copper was originally much more realistic. It ended with a hunter nailing Tod's lifeless pelt to the wall then euthanizing Copper with his shotgun." Well, ain't that cheery? Did I mention I read this when I was 12 in an antique store one day?

4Kids, Kaiba should not say "I'll make them an offer you can't refuse." After last night's Queer as Folk marathon, the idea of Kaiba tracking down villainous politicians is almost appealing. Leon's monsters are queer to put it nicely. They need to stop moving around my times. I missed Sieg taking out Jou and all I got out of today's episode, aside from how damaged Leon is (living with Sieg and all), was that Sieg wants Kaiba to come and find him. This is, without a doubt, the most boring filler in Yugioh history. They barely even have Yami or Yuugi doing anything.

QaF Season 3 seemed terribly wrong. As much as I like Brian doing the right thing, sacrificing his job and all his material possessions to help out his peeps, it's not Brian. Brian loves Justin, yes, but he's still Brian. I would say that Brian would be smart enough not to make out on his sabotaging evidence but that's not true either. I don't know how I feel about Hunter. He's just a weird kid. As for Ted, there are no words and I see it as bad writing and character bastardization. They even made Emmett a bit stupid for a while there. Wasn't Emmett the one who convinced Ted to deal with his druggie boytoy? The lesbians got completely gyped for storyline in the second half of this season. I was overall disappointed.

I love watching "The Emperor's New Groove" because of Izma and Kronk. That is one of the stupidest Disney movies, but it is hilarious.

I shall return to the anime today.
