So I'm missing voting like a son of a bitch. But I have a life this weekend, and it's too fast for me until at least tomorrow or later this evening. Then I'll count how many batches I missed and be amused.

quebelly made me catch up on Lost. And since the only character I'm truly obsessed with is Locke, and he got some great episodes, I might be a follower again. We'll see. Depends if I can fix my busted-ass TV. Ben's pretty interesting too though. But Locke. Damn now I wish I had marathoned this episodes BEFORE Friday. Alas.

New Geass official art amuses me. I love how the magazines refuse to acknowledge that Lelouch and Suzaku are going to be trying to *kill* each other soon. But I'm a sucker for LuluSuza so I'm eating it up. I think it creates a nice balance with the cracky wedding pic. If you're going to give me my crack het and my crack slash at the same time, I've got no complaints. I need to make new icons using the uber-cute Lelouch chibis in Pash. ( I'm very intrigued by what the directors have to say about the LuluSuza relationship. )

chuunin baleted the dub fight yesterday, and for good reason since it was getting wanky. I still feel that my statement was worth while and will therefore repeat it here. There is no point to Naruto dub hate. The editors have continuously shown desire to go out of their way to accommodate to fans in terms of storyline, editing and even the OPs. They are allowing everything they possibly can and considerably more than most Toonami shows originally allowed. Many fans were already anxious to hate on the dub from it's announcement. If they say otherwise, they are lying. I remember the Viz bitching. Fans who dislike the dub for existing should just forget about it entirely and go along their way. I find the dub a fair accompaniment to the anime and will continue to enjoy it. More so that I can have amusing thoughts about Crispin Freeman and Yuri Lowenthal ever attending the same convention. Freeman is the perfect Itachi! Delicious. Like the GameFAQs people, I do believe Lowenthal would make a fine Lelouch should Bandai ever rip Geass from my rending claws with the power of LICENSING.

Dec. 5th, 2006 06:39 pmBad animation + Bad dubbing = Exceptionally bad Tenipuri. I really wish the VAs would pretend to care about their roles. Ryoma's a mixed bag. Sometimes he's great, and I love his ability to snark. But if he just has to be indifferent, he sounds lifeless. I think of the rest, I hate Taka and Inui the most since neither knows how to annunciate. Kaidoh tries at least. Momo is decent. Fuji would be better if he didn't sound so masculine. Tezuka has random delivery issues. I don't find Fudomine the most exciting of the matches to begin with so to have a crappy VA sound base to go with makes watching the episodes exhausting. Thank god for Kamio. I've always loved how slick he is.
ETA: Tell me I did not just see someone relate Kingdom Hearts to shonen manga in explaining how shonen manga could let secondary main characters die. o_0

I really hate taking off work when I'm actually sick because then I truly don't want to do anything but lay in bed like a slug. I guess this means I'll have time to finish my manga that's been building up.
Inui in the Tenipuri dub is still not doing it for me. He's ok when he's monologuing in his head but once he's doing his creepy Inui smile and still has the monotone voice, it doesn't work out. We already know my everlasting hatred for Fuji. No further complaints.
To get my Internet service at my new place, I have to wait almost three weeks! I could do one week. I have enough manga and Okami to get me through that. But I will literally climb walls if I had to be without my Net for three weeks. I have no idea what to do now. Why the fuck couldn't they have told me that when I was on the phone with them for an hour? Deceiving bitches.
Shit, I just realized I'm going to have no money for FFXII. I'm going to have to get it for Christmas or something. Dammit. Maybe that's for the best. I've been spending way too much money on games anyway. I'll just have to be one of the less cool kids and not know all of the spiffy stuff about the game when it first comes out. That and avoid spoilers like a mofo. That will be borderline impossible, considering the circles I run in. But I really shouldn't let myself buy another game until I beat either Xenosaga II or Xenosaga III or even FMA 2. I can't believe I have three games that I haven't beaten, two that I haven't even touched since buying them. I don't think I know where Xenosaga III is anymore.

Must you idiots let it rule your entire view of the show? And that stupid teenage bimbo (I know she had to be a teenage bimbo from the idiocies spewing from her mouth) going and saying that this episode sucked because it wasn't fast-paced or plot-involved. The only reason she felt that way was because she didn't understand the message it was trying to get across, especially Mako's tribute. I admit Aang's tale was a bit lame and Momo's was pure fluff, but the others were not childish by far and all about exploring the characters. I really want to hit that girl. I bet she's another stupid Zutara fan too.
I owe people money, but the bank is closed. Looks like I'll have to go pick up some from the ATM when I go to work in about 15 minutes. Watch me find nothing I need.
Why isn't the subbed episode of Ouran 26 out yet? I'm not watching 25 without 26.
Naruto did a superb job with Jiraiya last night. I'm very impressed at how much they managed to keep in it: the perving, naked Naruko, the bloody nose, the touching of Naruto's poor vulnerable body and the porn. Not one thing cut. And if they cut some blood, I so don't care. Also, they got us a theme song: Haruka Kanata. So the opening animation may not be quite up to snuff but hey theme song.
I owe people money, but the bank is closed. Looks like I'll have to go pick up some from the ATM when I go to work in about 15 minutes. Watch me find nothing I need.

Sep. 6th, 2006 10:09 amI had exactly two hours of me-time after work today. Two. There are not words for how much that infuriated me. I didn't get to do any of the writing, Xenosaga-ing or anything else I had in mind. I had time for Tenipuri so I could bitch a little at how they say "KaUru" when talking about Kaidoh. I haven't watched the Japanese version in some time so I'm wondering if this deal Viz has with using certain names is just a reoccurence of their manga issues or if it's accurate. Either way, Inui still creeps me out with his VA. But I'll give him points for trying very hard to sound like he's supposed to.
I think I'm going to deal with this dead tired after work deal by chugging down a Red Bull everytime I have one of these later meetings.
And joys, Tom said I could come over this weekend. Good since I missed House and need someone to watch Trinity Blood and Bleach with. Apparently he has a project for this weekend that sounds like fun.
Seriously, the drama on some communities is getting so out of hand. I can't tell whether it's a moving onto work thing or a collection of general woes that they let get to them on an unhealthy scale. Either way, it's depressing to think that CRACK can become personal. Despite my views on various persons, I feel bad for everyone that every feels that abandoning a fandom is their only resort.
I need to work on my new obsession with hyphenating combination descriptions. I need combo breakers or something.
I think I'm going to deal with this dead tired after work deal by chugging down a Red Bull everytime I have one of these later meetings.

Shonen dubs?
Aug. 12th, 2006 12:24 pmMore on the Prince of Tennis dub. Kaidoh sounds much better now that I've heard him talk more. Tezuka fluctuates from sounding way too soft and sounding perfect. I still want to murder Fuji's voice actor slowly. Possibly also Inui's since it just doesn't sound like Inui. The rest I can work with. Eiji seems to have a decent hold on the voice. Ryoma's father kinda freaks me out.
I have this cracky idea of making a journal devoted to the dub just to get various opinions since I'm used to fandoms typically following a dub for the first few episodes and after that only returning during the major episodes. FMA did the best job of staying mostly consistent. I wish Naruto was like that. I think maybe I should just focus on the Shonen Jump dubs since Bleach will be coming out soon. We'll see how quickly someone else steals my idea. What's out there anyway? Hikaru no Go? Prince of Tennis? Naruto? Bleach?

Remember how I said I'd put up with your refusal to properly translate Twist Serve, your Ryoma VA's journey to learn the ropes (he's getting better), your annoying girls (they were always annoying) and your strange choice for Momoshirou? I've been very kind with you. So if you would be so kind as to explain in as few words as possible WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO TO MY REGULARS? Have you even watched one episode of the show? You've translated 15 volumes of the friggin' manga, and those didn't suck. What the hell possessed you to find the worst actors possible and toss them into the roles of Seigaku? Inui is *not* soft-spoken. Tezuka does not bark like a dog. Fuji does not sound like the butchiest man to ever butch. Oishi is decent. Eiji I'm debating on (not perky enough.) Kaidoh, well at least Kaidoh is trying; he just sucks. Why? Why do you do this to me? I was loyal. I supported your Naruto dub. I supported your Hikaru no Go dub. I buy your manga. Why must you unleash this betrayal? You've turned Seigaku into a mockery, a mockery that I shall now watch to bash weekly. Granted, it's no One Piece but it's friggin' close.

Between life and death
Jul. 18th, 2006 11:04 pmAmid my attempts to write, I've come to the conclusion that the world needs a romance/adventure between a Grim Reaper (though I prefer Shinigami because it just sounds more spiffy) and a Guardian Angel. One saves you from death and the other helps you die. It would be awesome and probably slash since I can't write females to save my life. Ideas to follow as they come to me. I'm thinking Gabriel for angel and possibly Raven for reaper. But I'm open to other suggestions. I blame the return of Dead Like Me to television, Sci Fi channel to be exact.
Also might as well share fanart/fanfiction idea of The Black Pearl being represented as a hot pirate bitch who slaps Jack around and *occassionally* opts for a shag. The idea is not helped by the reminder that The Black Pearl probably cheated on Jack with Barbosa or that the Pearl would kill Elizabeth in a cat fight over Jack. ( Also SPOILER ) I invest too much in the personification of inanimate objects. And just so we're clear, this would be the spiritual manifestation of the Pearl and not the actual ship. We won't even go there.
Other things I might eventually talk about should I ever feel better:
1. Prince of Tennis dub. No, I don't think it sucks. But at least people don't regard it the way they regard the Naruto dub. Damn, you'd think the dub personally murdered their entire family the way they act. Itachi doesn't have nothing on Viz.
2. Hikaru no Go dub. I like Sai. I like Mousse's VA. Bite me.
3. Haseo of the new HACK series and how he looks like a cosplaying Sasuke. Further info on Team 7 in the World.
4. X artbook and subsequent X musings.
