tempestuously: ([not!kamui] will you defeat your demons)
I am just writing this to let people know I am back from Otakon. It was full of awesome and win, aside from my hotel bitches who spent all of Saturday reading HP like dorks. But I got some of the best Geass doujin in the world, two of the voice figures, lots of pretties to stick on my wall, all of the released manga (not Nightmare of Nunnally), the Ashford artbooks, saw a beautiful Kallen cosplayer and a fine Lelouch cosplayer and best of all, got accosted by Bandai's industry spy while waiting for Seki to sign my Gravitation poster.

I've never been privy to the official announcement of the licensing of one of my favorite series so this was very interesting. But I did love the part where Bandai U.S. assured us that Pizza Hut will continue to support the Rebellion in the U.S. Yes, in those words. They are well aware of what American fans have been saying about the show. Also, the announcement of showing Geass on TV did not say "American" broadcast; it said "international." ANN mispoke. I was there. A few fans and I made damn sure Bandai knows we want all the DVD extras, including the DVD booklets and the picture dramas. It's going to be fun dealing with the final two episodes when it comes to subbers, but other than that, I knew Bandai was going to get Geass around this point, and I am insanely excited about buying the animation-restored/rechecked DVDs. Also, it was great fun to watch Geass at Otakon and hear a bunch of guys go "NO ___ put down the gun" when a certain character showed up in the episode preview. Hah! I love being around Geass fans so the excitement that tore through the air when the Geass announcement came up was intense. I was not expecting so many to care. Guess Geass is making an impression after all. How I love my Geass.

I also chatted it up some about Seki with Maki Murakami and fully enjoyed both the AMV contest (almost all my favorites won) and the masquerade. Harry Potter Release Night was also amusing, as was hanging with the CFUD peeps in the artist gallery and having a super-quick chat with [livejournal.com profile] silver_huskey.

In conclusion, I am now avoiding the Internet until I finish Harry Potter and possibly until the final two episodes of Geass are released. SPOIL ME FOR GEASS AND YOU FUCKING DIE!!!

So anyways I'm in a masochist mood and want to worsen my situation with the Gravitation 2 chapters? Read something about Eiri and it got me all interested. *likes seeing her favorite characters in pain for some bizarre reason* So anyone who's got scans, they would be appreciated. I don't even really need translations either. What I come up with in my head probably makes just as much sense as what's actually going on.

I need to watch Avatar again. I don't think I was paying enough attention to it while hanging out with Sis, especially since I missed the HUGE revelation at the end that everybody's just gaga about.

Eventually I will get around to watching XXXholic and Host Club. Stupid KH obsession limiting my ability to think about anything else for more than 10 minutes at a time.

Went manga-buying again today. Got Yugioh Duelist 13, Yami's first encounter with Osirus. Why they changed Osirus' name to Slifer in the manga is beyond me since they keep all the Japanese names. -_- The bondingtension between Yami and Kaiba in this volume is almost unrivaled.

Favorite Quotes:
-"You are one of the few people I recognize as a duelist. Where's your pride? I won't allow you to lose miserably while I watch."
-"Can't you see it, Yuugi? Our road of battle goes further than the eye can see. Don't tell me you're going to stop here."
-"If God stands in your way, mow him down! Have no regrets!"
-"No one can defeat Yuugi but me."
-"Mokuba, watch closely. This is the power of a true duelist."
-"The God cards choose only the proudest duelists as their owners."
-"If you weren't at my level, it would be pointless to defeat you."
-"Choosing friends over pride."
-"Then come at us as a tag team you pigs. Yuugi and I will pair up."

Right now trying to get GX 75; I hear Kaiba makes a cameo, along with Yuugi's grandfather. He's supposed to be slightly more there in 76. We'll see. But Azureus and Verizon hate each other. I should have opened IRC.

Also got the Gravitation novel. The amazing thing is that it doesn't suck ass. Well, I only read the Yuki/Shuichi parts, but they read very natural. You get to see Shuichi's thoughts so it becomes more than just "YUKI!" "Shut up." "*sobs*" "*grunts*" Their interaction had a sort of depth that existed only in brief pieces in the manga. I actually like Shuichi in this. Yuki's hot/cold manner seems right. Also, it does speak to the question about Yuki's fidelity, with Shuichi admitting that Yuki is his lover but also has some girlfriends on the side. I don't know, the idea of Yuki and Shuichi living together on a week-to-week basis is both sad and understable. Yuki has some real issues he needs to work out that could take a while. Also, hah to the image of Shuichi singing in a port-a-potty and the return of a certain sinister character.

However, one thing about the novel (so far) was BAD and that was Tokyopop's summary for it. And I quote:
"Energetic teenager Shuichi Shindo is the lead singer and songwriter for the smash-hit pop band, Bad Luck. During a break on his premeire tour, Shuichi comes home t see his boyfriend, Eiri Yuki, the famous romance novelist. He finds the apartment empty and the only thing waiting for him is a mysterious, alarming note. Has somethng horrible happened to his lover? Does it have any connection to that gorgeous lady who's been stalking the writer for the past few weeks?

NONE OF THIS HAPPENS IN THE NOVEL! The summary reads like bad fanfiction. Yes, Shuichi's being 19 makes him technically a teenager but after you hit 18, you've more or less hit some form of adulthood. This has to be the worst summary TokyoPop has ever written. Do they even read their stuff?

Other manga acquired include Love Mode 2 (still haven't read 1), Yami no Matsuei 10 (RIKO!) and Banana Fish 12.

Yes, I post almost as much when I'm stressed as when I'm in a state of fangirl giddiness.

If I possess coherency when I get out of work tomorrow, I think I'm going to do a Gravitation post since somewhere between last week and this and largely amid a lot of debate/wank, I've managed to convince myself that I loathe it entirely, which is devastatingly not true (for that would mean I hate Yuki and I could never never do that). I need to collect my thoughts on the status of the series. I need to figure out how I really feel about it right now so that when it sneaks its way into other rants, I understand where this venom is coming from. I didn't realize I hated it on this level until I read back through my recent posts. Scary.

That and start comm. Will not be deterred. It is a much-needed resource.

Interesting choice for a banner, LJ. I recommend more seasonal effects.

Most plans for Netting last weekend were destroyed by the frequent trips Tom and I took to various shopping places. Our quest was to find as much food as possible, which nobody ate since everyone at the party (aside from not being in costume) had already eaten. The party turned out different than I expected, with Tom's coworkers stealing him for most of it. I should blame that on Katamari though. The rest of the party was too entranced to notice his absence. I made the King of the Cosmos fire lasers at me. Tom also recorded my Yugioh: Dawn of the Duel (yes, I had to use the cheesy 4Kids title) on his computer so we could all laugh at Eric Stuart trying to sound like less of an ass. He fails. There was also Grave of the Fireflies, which is the most depressing anime known to man. I knew it would be depressing, but that just reached a whole new level. I was so pissed at Seita for not going back to his aunt, even when his sister was dying. We also interrupted our Halloween party to go see Wallace and Grommit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit. I love how spontaneous our parties are. W & G had bunnies, lots and lots of bunnies. I like bunnies. I guess that made it a better movie than Santa's Slay about how Santa was the son of Satan and had only been nice due to a bet he made with an angel over shuffleboard. Wow...Uh, Tom passed out (on me) during W & G and everyone had a good laugh. He made such an adorable Harry Potter, even if his scar was barely visible.

I bought Gankutsuou and complained about how Franz sounded too gay. I like everyone else. The guys kept laughing whenever I mentioned Franz had a fiance. It is rather funny.

Also, the new Gravitation, you can die. You can go to hell and die. Ryuichi/Shuichi makes me want to barf out my spleen. Shuichi would never cheat on Yuki!! This is worse than fanfiction. I want it to just stop. Hell, bring back the demon spawn child if it will keep Ryuichi from becoming a bastard and Shuichi from becoming even more of an ass.

Gots to take the Sasuke-neko to her vet today. Maybe then I can net andcamp and stuff.

How come my cable's out but my Internet's working this morning? That ain't right.
tempestuously: (deathdestroyme: team 7)
I think I misnamed Sasuke-neko. The damn fool just tried to bury herself in the litter box. She hopped out of my hands, digs a little hole in the freshly poured litter and proceeds to shove her face into it and then roll around like a nut. I'd be damned if I was playing with her after the display. WTF, Sasuke-neko?

The funeral home I usually get in a spat with took pity on me today and typed up their form all nice and pretty. And they still forgot information and forced me to call. I felt bad about it too.

I wonder if I can continue to drive my car the rest of the week on less than a quarter tank. I already owe Dad for the Gravi OVA and a shiny new ethernet cable, required to keep me from launching the modem out the window when the chord fell out during yet another AIM conversation. I still have to buy my costume too.

Camp owned my soul a bit too much yesternight. A bit being from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. Not sane at all. I'm not going to link, I'm just going to suggest browing [livejournal.com profile] cfud_daily from Oct. 15 to Oct. 16. But B and the Gentleman rule all. God, if I had any talent at all, I'd app Faith. But I'd crash and burn in a very bad way so no. That and I'd need to rewatch all her Season 3 stuff. Probably don't want Season 7/Angel-fixed Faith with Season 3!Buffy.

Also rebuilding my effigy for Clamp because Rikuou and Kaza-chan make me miss my Legal Drug so so much. I really should have known better than to ever pick up the raw manga and I definitely should have known better than to buy all of the licensed stuff. I want more Kazahaya. ;_; He really is my favorite type of uke. Curse you, Clamp!

Remind me to make my "Guns don't kill people. K kills people!" icon.

I'm shocked that I actually got to work by my goal of 9:30 a.m. today. I'm going to shoot for 9 a.m. for the rest of the week since I like getting home at reasonable times of day. God, I don't want to log yesterday's activities with the pup. Note to self, must venture to [livejournal.com profile] wolfsrain and whore self to community, promising sex for more WR wolves. Hey, if the GSeed gang can do it so can I. Lucky bastards have one of the GSeed mods on their side though.

The one time I try to watch this thing when I'm not with [livejournal.com profile] quebelly and the whole thing is spoiled by the stupid commercial. Is it bad that I really like the bitch? She may be a vicious woman but she's GOOD. Boy-girl totally needs to play off the hard-tack lesbian look. It works for her. If only she didn't always look to the side.

I did my good deed for the day. This old guy was trying to cross the road, but was really old and slow and the "walk/don't walk" signal was unoperational. So the cars never stopped. They acted like they were going to, but you can never judge with cars, especially on busy city roads. Now, the harsh, bastard-obsessed side of me just wanted to get to the store and pick up my Slushie. I was on my lunch break and only had so much of my precious time to waste between typing up more reports. But the shonen ai-fluffy side of me says cut the guy a break. I dash out in the middle of a road while the cars are stopped at a red light and motion for the old car to come forward. Naturally, the light turns green and I have quite a few irate drivers seconds from running us both down, and this guy is VERY slow. I wait for him to finish and in the most Girl Scouts moment I've ever had (since I was never in Scouts), I casually guide him onto the sidewalk by his elbow. When the entire incident was over, I had ten minutes to eat. Joy.

I need the Gravitation OVA out right now since I'm currently on a huge Gravi kick. I might even drag down the most recent bastardization of the manga.

Emo bitch fit on writing/editing )

Then again, I'm probably wasting my time on this piddling stuff. Everything. Even my precious Xenosaga II. I need to get back to my boys, who are horribly neglected and unloved and wanting of the sex and death. I've been writing angsty dialogue lately. It's leaning into the mush territory and annoying me. I need a fight. Something that results in a violent make-out session or so.

Gravitation had one of the most cracked-out endings in the world. I am still content with it. They handled Eiri's issues, Shuichi's issues, and even Ryuuichi's in a way that didn't make me want to throw up. Yeah, they still had a lot of nonsense but Murakami managed to finish up in a way that worked for me.

On further manga news, just realized that in volume 4, Satoshi is reacting to Daisuke saying his name when Krad shows up. I also picked up Banana Fish 8. I need to buy Duelist 6, Yami no Matsuei 6, Prince of Tennis 8, and DNAngel 8.

Saw "Finding Neverland." Great movie. It really was. I recommend to all.

[livejournal.com profile] quebelly, I'll try to do your meme when I'm feeling better.

EDIT: Day = Upsetting to the max. I think it's time for the Loveless finale since things can't get much worse.
