tempestuously: ([not!kamui] i keep this for trauma)
I see another polirant approaching. This one on the mosque they want to build near by the 9/11 crash.

I am making my brother a trifle for his birthday. He has no idea what that it is. This should be fun!

I am still undecided on whether to see the Scott Pilgrim movie. Good reviews but still UGH MICHAEL CERA HOW I HATE YOUR FACE. If it was any other lead, I would be on this movie in an instant. But yeah, Cera just makes me rage with his basic existence. It's not even him as a person. I just can't stand his face. So shallow.

Flight of Eagles is shaping up to be my favorite yet. Mini spoilers. )

Since everyone has been so lively on the Geass comm lately, what with the anniversary of the start of Britannia's invasion of Japan and all, I have tracked down the Otakon Geass AMVs for sharing!

Lelouch Lamperouge stars in Christopher Nolan's "Inception."
Won best in trailer/parody. Oh yeah, and there's a Roy Mustang cameo.

Pizza Hut vs. KFC

And last but not least...

BRITANNIA FUCK YEAH!
Won best in comedy. As an added note, Gabi especially adores this one for the opening between Lelouch and Nunnally.
If you aren't an AMV.org member, you can get the censored version on YouTube.

Random quotes of the day:
"Glenn Beck is an oxymormon - sometimes he makes sense... "
- WaPo comment on Glenn Beck's support for gay marriage. Yeah, you read that right.

"This is so exciting! I've never been involved in a three-way before."
- my father referring to being on a three-way phone conversation with my brother and I. talk about awkward.
tempestuously: ([ph] if bird or devil)
Thus is the theme of this year's Otakon experience.

Aside from Gabi's shameful run-in with fate via After School Charisma and thus dooming us to a fire at the convention (which only lasted about an hour and a half) and Graham's equally horrific bout of food poisoning via our favorite sushi place, Otakon was enjoyable. Meet-ups went down as planned, time spent with [livejournal.com profile] yzak and [livejournal.com profile] anatari was awesome, Todd Habercorn and the Voice Actors After Dark panel was mind-blowingly hilarious, X-Japan was properly fangirled and I was able to blow most of my money on Durarara fanstuffs. Though we were all horribly sad the yaoi was a lie.

I also picked up Red Garden, Nabari no Ou and the final R2 set, along with the Vampire Knight artbook (because I am a sheep) and silly fanarts. Gabi got to learn what it's like to play with Nayami's whacky con schedule and even critiqued the Lelouch cosplayers... from a distance. Masquerade was hit or miss but the advanced set did have some magic in the form of "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist" for Hetalia, "Telephone" for Utena: Black Rose Saga, "What's This Feeling" for Roy and Ed vs. fangirls, great Street Fighter demonstrations and sexy ninja break-dancing. Also, some great AMVs.

I think I will be waiting another day to return to the real world since Rachel and I have been mass-marathoning Avatar and I kind of want to watch Book 3 now. I enjoy remembering how much I used to love Avatar and shared with Rachel all of the fan reactions and crazy theories that followed all of the major episodes. Since she was only familiar with the movie, it was quite an experience!

In other news, I prefer the manga version of R2 to the anime, I think. Though I still haven't seen the last volume.

Oh yeah, for some reason Gabi broke down and bought the Night Class Vampire Knight outfit and we have since resigned ourselves to cosplay Zero and Aidou at Katsucon. I PREDICT AGONY. Now, to find me a weapon. *insert evil laugh here*
tempestuously: ([not!kamui] what fools these mortals be)
Now for your aforementioned picspam post. I took too many pics so I'm separating this into cosplay and then meetups and crack.

Otakon 2009 Cosplay AKA Nayami is too damn picky about who she snaps photos of. )
tempestuously: ([cat] too awesome for you)
I'm going to start resizing pictures for my Otakon picspam version as soon as I finish reading my Wastelands section. Also, I read more spoilers for Torchwood and now I am even more terrified and anxious about watching it.

The Primary Gain fanfic always makes me so brutally jealous. She's too damn good at the boys.

ETA: Thank you, King, for terrifying me with your evil train picture. Now I'm going to have nightmares. Sob.
tempestuously: ([cs] someone looks FIERCE)
Good: Listening to Crispin Freeman talk about voicing Tsume without a shirt!
Bad: Standing in line for an hour and not getting Crispin's autograph. :(
Good: Getting Lelouch and shaymin plushies from the dealer's room.
Bad: None of the manga dealers had Pandora Hearts.
Good: Awesome fun hanging with the CFUDers, partially due to some quick organization tricks.
Bad: Having to compete with the hell bitch within my personal group on Thursday night.
Good: Finding awesome tapas restaurant.
Bad: Spending an hour literally walking down memory lane of Baltimore City, looking for food.
Good: Finally buying the final Geass S1 Special Edition DVD.
Bad: Evil spoilericious Geass AMV. To be fair, both Geass AMVs were gorgeous, just the first made me waaaah. This is a bad lite.
Good: Getting a picture of a gorgeous Dietrich cosplayer.
Bad: Having two friends get conned on the Baltimore streets while this was happening.

AND THE ULTIMATE GOOD/BAD INSTANCE.

Good: Overall fun con and awesome weather. (minus the randomly "buttscratcher" screaming morons who I will hunt down and slaughter like the dogs they are.)
Bad: Car is dead and I will probably have to take another day off work to deal with the madness tomorrow. :(((

List of Nayami's terrible impulse buys. )

Also I think this pic best illustrates the manic nature of my con experience. I got it whilst I was standing in line for Crispin. Baw. Every other hour, I felt like one or the other of them. )
tempestuously: ([loveless] don't make me come over there)
I might do my con report when I return from work. I first need to buy a scanner to scan all of my pornilicious doujin. I haven't yet decided whether I will remain on my general Net hiatus until Saturday/Sunday, with the exception of writing stuff in this journal.

I finished the final HP 7. While I was insanely irritated with the first few chapters or so and while I will say a few inconsistencies and moments of lovey-dovey stupidity that made me shake my head at Rowling, I fully admit to loving it. Just in case it sounds spoilery ) I will not bash it in the least. However, I do look forward to checking out some hardcore wank upon the end of my hiatus.
tempestuously: ([not!kamui] will you defeat your demons)
I am just writing this to let people know I am back from Otakon. It was full of awesome and win, aside from my hotel bitches who spent all of Saturday reading HP like dorks. But I got some of the best Geass doujin in the world, two of the voice figures, lots of pretties to stick on my wall, all of the released manga (not Nightmare of Nunnally), the Ashford artbooks, saw a beautiful Kallen cosplayer and a fine Lelouch cosplayer and best of all, got accosted by Bandai's industry spy while waiting for Seki to sign my Gravitation poster.

I've never been privy to the official announcement of the licensing of one of my favorite series so this was very interesting. But I did love the part where Bandai U.S. assured us that Pizza Hut will continue to support the Rebellion in the U.S. Yes, in those words. They are well aware of what American fans have been saying about the show. Also, the announcement of showing Geass on TV did not say "American" broadcast; it said "international." ANN mispoke. I was there. A few fans and I made damn sure Bandai knows we want all the DVD extras, including the DVD booklets and the picture dramas. It's going to be fun dealing with the final two episodes when it comes to subbers, but other than that, I knew Bandai was going to get Geass around this point, and I am insanely excited about buying the animation-restored/rechecked DVDs. Also, it was great fun to watch Geass at Otakon and hear a bunch of guys go "NO ___ put down the gun" when a certain character showed up in the episode preview. Hah! I love being around Geass fans so the excitement that tore through the air when the Geass announcement came up was intense. I was not expecting so many to care. Guess Geass is making an impression after all. How I love my Geass.

I also chatted it up some about Seki with Maki Murakami and fully enjoyed both the AMV contest (almost all my favorites won) and the masquerade. Harry Potter Release Night was also amusing, as was hanging with the CFUD peeps in the artist gallery and having a super-quick chat with [livejournal.com profile] silver_huskey.

In conclusion, I am now avoiding the Internet until I finish Harry Potter and possibly until the final two episodes of Geass are released. SPOIL ME FOR GEASS AND YOU FUCKING DIE!!!

Dear sweet FL,

I have put you on a special filter to separate you from communties. Yet you still manage to spoil me. I am le sad and will be living at my RP for the rest of the day until I venture off to Baltimore tomorrow. I still have no idea how I'm getting ahold of this book.
tempestuously: ([blackcat] *wankwank*)
I'm currently typing this with my laptop pushed up against my headrest because my laptop can no longer safely support its screen and my desk is buried underneath manga. I should really buy another bookshelf. Boss says he's going to try to make something to help this situation, but I might have to end sending the damn thing in to the manufacturer for repairs. I'm so pissed. I also hate typing like this. It hurts my back. Maybe I need a book or something to raise the laptop up to my level.

I have invited a new member to our epic Otakon quest and secured another day off to better manage said quest. Someone needs to remind me that next time I want to come up with my altruistic ideas, I need to do it at least a month in advance. Hotel bitch better have ordered his tickets or I'm going to cut him.

I had a conversation with coworker. It went badly to say the least and now I'm fairly sure she's trying to avoid talking to me. Score. I don't think this is going to fix the problem at all.

I probably won't be venturing out to [livejournal.com profile] quebelly's house for fireworks mayhem tonight since not only do I have to work tomorrow morning, but my hope that I would have someone else to make sure I don't get lost on way to the assignment decided I could handle things on my own and is cool with just meeting up. Just peachy.

I have no fandom news worth note today. I just want to say that yesterday clearly sucked in every way possible and I apologize to anyone who had to speak with me.
tempestuously: (lfangor-yami/kaiba)
All the crap I picked up at the con.

1.Roy and Ed sex it up in this pencil board.
2. Cagalli finally gets her love in this AsuCaga pencil board from Gundam Seed.
3. The Uchiha brothers have some bonding time in poster form.
4. Time for a Naruto close-up. We'll save the freaky reenactments for later.
5. The SasuNaru wallet is one of my favorite presents since it allows me to have a non-guy wallet and get away with subtle fangirling throughout the day. BTW, the wallet is braced against my cat in this picture.
6. I don't know why the sales person called this FMA necklace a dagger but it's hot and heavy.
7. The card I nearly threatened Graham's life for. Useles but still beautiful. And it gets along with the other Blue Eyes so that's cool.
8. The prettiest DNAngel merchandise I have. I guess I could use them for bookmarks or something. I wish they had been pins.
9. So you want to be a Konoha ninja? Better pic up your own poser headband before they become mainstream.
10. This is the neat Kyuubi-like symbol Rache brought for me when we first met up. I wear it to work sometimes.
11. Satoshi and Daisuke start off the pin brigade with their stalkery goodness.
12. Kira and Asuran find peace in the pin world as well. Alas, no Cagalli playmate.
13. Itachi brings up the rear. That's probably less than safe.
14. Chibi-Gaara reminds me to keep him close by at all times, posing as a chain for my cell phonepurse.
15. Behold the power of the Loveless volumes. Currently up to 5.
16. Not a Loveless fan? Then dive into the sea of Naruto, with the most recent volume plus the SasuNaru fight of subtext.
17. I love Nittle Grasper and now have a way to let the whole world know. This is by far the best of the Gravitation attire.
18. This one even had a nifty back.
19. But I loved the Eiri/Shu too much to choose between the two. So I got them both.

Well that concludes the family-friendly section. If you're looking for something a bit more doujinshi oriented, try these babies. Selections include Yugioh, Prince of Tennis, Naruto, Death Note, Gundam Seed and Gundam Wing. )

Of course, I go to play and my Internet dies. Ah well, maybe I can get my final Otakon posts done quickly so I can return. I just realized I have to find my wallet and I forgot to check the other card for pics of Wolfram and such. I can't believe I forgot about Wolfie.

I should have known that the first time I go to an Orioles game in years, they play so badly that calling [livejournal.com profile] quebelly on the cell phone seemed a more productive use of my time.

Also, Six Feet Under finale was disappointing in every sense of the word. The only redeeming factor was that David finally stopped being a basket case. But everything else was so lifeless and unengaging. After the episode before it, I expected something better with Nate and Nathaniel. I also don't think that random montage at the end was needed or worth my time. They should have just given me Keith/David sex and been done with it.
tempestuously: (lfangor-yami/kaiba)
[livejournal.com profile] quebelly, I forgot your safety pins at Tom's so I'll buy you a new set soon. I did bring back your ears and whoever's dogtags.

Back from Otakon. I dread catching up with LJ, among other things. Hung out with Tom, [livejournal.com profile] _argustar and [livejournal.com profile] crowphoenix and bought too much stuff. A full report and Nayami's attempt at photography tomorrow. Too tired now. Also managed to dig into both ankles with the back of my shoes without realizing it. Ruined a perfectly good pair of socks. Overall, the only minuses about Otakon I had this year were the disorganized and abitrary masquerade choices and the lines that never ended for VA autographs. I did get Vic though! He's darling!

Got random cosplay idea for next time: Ice Princess Sasuke. In my perfect vision, it's beautiful.

Also watched Destiny 43 with pals. I was cheering so loud that the fanboys walking by us had to stop and figure out what the heck I was looking at. Most recognized. Loved the Cagalli vs. Meer vs. Lacus radio sabotage extravaganza. Also loved the return of Seed!Asuran and Kira catching him as he plummeted out of the sky after achieving his goal of knocking that damn chip off SuperAce!Shinn's shoulder. Take that, flyboy! I think Cagalli's about to give Asuran a stern talking to about dashing off to battle when he's internally injured.

Tom needs to get more sleep, and William needs to stop playing World of Warcraft 24/7 and then telling us about it. Next time he does that, I'm telling him about all the things that I read about going on in the camp. He better not AIM me about it, thinking I have interest. That's scary.

Still need to figure out how I'm going to get work to give me a teensy weensy bit of time off so I can hit up the baseball game with the family tomorrow. Bad timing so close to Otakon and all.

And, [livejournal.com profile] crowphoenix, you forgot to get back your twenty so I'll have to send you one in the mail.
