tempestuously: ([es21] eye of the tiger... SHARK)
Ow my fingers are ready to fall off from all that weeding. Now all I have to do is find me some flowers that won't die. We have these huge red pulsating egg sac/larvae things in my garden, and I'd really like to know what they are because they are creeping me out. They're about the size of half a pinkie length. My father loves yelling at me because whenever I weed, I always have to save the worms, slugs, mealy bugs and whatever other creepy crawly I wander into.

Some freaky garden trivia I learned about this week. Apparently there's this plant called the Tree of Life that emits chemicals that kill all other plants around it that aren't also Trees of Life. That's hardcore! No wonder it's illegal to have.

I don't know why I'm enjoying Let Dai. I love the complexity of Dai, the evolving character of Jahee's girlfriend and the wackiness of Naru. But I'm irked by the nature of the relationship between Jahee and Dai. They're amazing when they're together, but the love itself suffers from the common shonen ai malady known as ITTS. I'm quite pissed at Jahee for so easily forgiving Dai after what happened to his friend. I also don't like the friend's sister at all; she's dull and her crush on Jahee is more so. I wish I could find some spoilers for this series because I can already tell Dai and Jahee are going to have one hell of a fall. I love Dai's possessive streak and his unwillingness to ever admit he's wrong or take the blame for something. The only thing that allows me to forgive Jahee for being too naive is the edge he takes whenever Dai's pushing too hard; I like when he deliberately defies Dai, as rare as it occurs. But yeah I love Naru; he's awesome, cracky fun and he's so good at just rolling with situations. Something horrible will probably happen to him.

I want more Kakei icons. They're so hard to find, and I love his dark predator eyes. He's my widdle tiger shark. Anyone knows where to find some sexy icons of Kakei, and I'll be muchly appreciative. Speaking of ES21, god does the anime suck. Everyone looks horrible, especially Hiruma.
tempestuously: ([es21] chasing after you)
Spent this weekend with the friends, and as usual for the weekends that I'm absent, missed out on other goodness. But seeing as I did catch up with Shippuden, watch OZ Season 1 and the first three episodes of Dr. Who, I say it's a fair trade.

I enjoy talking Geass with William because he really doesn't understand why fans appreciate Lelouch. I told him he won't understand unless he watches it. Most of our discussions are me trying to get him to watch through promoting the political intrigue. From these alone, he's completely convinced Suzaku is justified, which is mostly true, and that the fans are all enamored with a terrorist, something he doesn't get. He better watch it this time. Oh he also argues with me that the Britannians aren't true Britains because he says without the Cesar invasion, the proper mixing of Anglo-Saxon and French blood wouldn't have occurred, and their language wouldn't have evolved the way it is now. I hate hanging with the history fiend.

Having caught up on Shippuden )

As far as my manga readings went: )

Dr. Who Season 3: I like Margaret better than Rose so far because Rose played along with 10's antics and tended to irk me in that fashion. Margaret is more of the straight man for his crazy so the combination is more amusing. Yes, I want him to stop whining about Rose in every episode. I never liked that relationship, and I'm sick about hearing it. Can't 10 and Margaret just space/time-hop without the prerequisite angst? The Shakespeare episode was beautiful, especially when Shakespeare saved the day by quoting Harry Potter. Nice touch.

OZ: I just want to see more of in general. Everyone always tells me Oz is depressing, and it is, but the writing is perfect. Each character has so much to them so that even when you truly hate one of them, there is still something there to remind you that this racist rapist or whatnot is still human. That and I just love Beecher. Crazy-ass Beecher more so. My friend's only got the first four volumes, and I only borrowed Season 2 for now so I'll have to track down the rest.

My sadness for the day is coupled with the loss of the Hellbeast. Sis came and took her away. Even if she was a horny psychopath, I shall miss her.

Thank you cracky GameFAQs musings for giving me hope.

I need Eyeshield 13 like yesterday. I want to see Kakei and Mizumachi kick serious butt. Their uniforms are disturbing. Also, Sena is almost hot when doing his Devil Bat Ghost trick. Still too young but closer now. And when do they get back Kurita and Hiruma's old buddy already? I'm astonished at how smart Agon is. Does this make him smarter than Hiruma? Is it even possible? I demand more scenes with Hiruma and Mamori. The scene with her looking after him in Vegas was just too aww.
tempestuously: ([es21] chasing after you)
Trip to CompSci land lasted a little longer than I expected, but I think I'm in a better mood. Mean Tom wouldn't let me hunt down a new book store to buy manga though. He said I can wait until Katuscon. That's what he thinks.

Caught up on some more Eyeshield. Hatred for Kid now gone since his participation in that beach football was great. He and Hiruma really do make a good team. His partner, the train guy, still freaks me out though. I think it's the lack of talking. I need to read 10 so I can laugh at their trip to Vegas. I just hope to find Hiruma sporting some classy gambling threads. I continue to miss Shin. There's just never enough Shin in Eyeshield. He's my second favorite character next to Hiruma. And Shin and Sena are getting mentally shipped now because he friggin' had hallucinations about him without a shirt.

Also watched some more Riff Trax. Even the MST3K people can't ignore the blatant gayness of Top Gun. Highway to the danger zone indeed. I honestly believe they put in the whole romantic subplot to convince people that Val Kilmer's character wasn't trying to jump Tom Cruise every five seconds. The whole interaction led Tom to asking whether Kilmer really was gay. We also watched Halloween, which I would have to classify as the most boring horror film ever. Wait, no that's The Grudge. This is close. Aside from learning that Mike Myers someone learned to be a ninja after being imprisoned in a mental institution since he was 6, I also learned that the same resourceful heroine who can think to attack with a coat hanger is dumb enough to drop the murder weapon by the killer not once but TWICE. Oh and there was Firewall, which would have sucked had it not included Harrison Ford jumping through a window and killing someone with a pick-ax.

Tom thrilled me with the marvels of bloodninja. I will probably waste some time learning more about the cyber-stalker on wikipedia when I'm done work.

Oh yeah, and the people who sold me my phone lied about what it can do so I can't actually upload mp3s on it. I'm contemplating returning it in protest since even the manual says I can upload mp3s, but the company provides no driver to enable the connection between the computer and the phone.

I have to catch up on Hikaru no Go and Death Note again.
tempestuously: ([wolf] how about a taste of my fangs?)
Ehem I have this small issue with breaking canon in such a way that the introduction of a major character of significance becomes impossible. I have more issues if the break is the stuff bad acid trips at the dentist's office are made of. But I have EVEN more issues if said character that influenced the canon break and isn't even part of canon thinks they have the right to ward off the canonical relationship. Sigh.

I need to get back to reading my Eyeshield so I can decide if I like Taki's sister and comprehend this universal aversion toward Agon, who in my opinion is the awesome that awesome is made of. I love the arrogant bastards who break people.

Work, I've decided that you will no longer top me. I will fight back.

I wonder if my departing Walden's is still getting its new shipment so I can pick up the manga that came out this month.
tempestuously: ([es21] beneath me)
I just learned it is official that my Walden's is closing. My only comfort was buying every Eyeshield 21 volume on the shelf, which coincidentally brings me up to date on the American releases until 12 comes out in a few weeks. After that, I'm thinking about ditching on waiting for 13's April release and just snagging the downloads that have been nudged at me once or twice. Because playing the waiting game with 21 current volumes in an ongoing series, not so cool.

I also bought Cain 2 and the Pets expansion. I imagine my Pets play will only last for a week or so, but Bro likes the Sims stuff too so it won't go completely to waste like my video games.

Since people are bitching about Geass' plot again (mostly people on the anime blogs), I must say if you are in the Geass fandom for the plot, I feel really sorry for you. Bitching about Geass plot is like bitching about Weiss Kreuz plot. Sure point out the plot holes and mock Lelouch's confusing logic, but don't act offended because Geass didn't provide the stimulating thrill ride you expected of it. Now get back to creating smut with Lelouch or Suzaku or Kallen or C.C. or Orange-kun or whoever floats your boat.

EDIT: The silly flash of the Devil Bats vs. the NASA Aliens they created based on the manga scene is too cute. Random question for you scanlation peoples. I'm looking at you, [livejournal.com profile] fiore777. In volume 7 when asshole American coach and Hiruma are having their verbal pecker contest, are the words censored or is this just a picky Viz thing. Shonen Jump Advanced my ass. Let Hiruma say fuck already. I still love you, Viz.
tempestuously: ([es21] chasing after you)
Dana, as I was coming home from work today, I saw this car that reminded me of you. It had a vanity place that said "I'd rather be knitting" and had one of those circle stickers with "k2tog."

I want the new chapter of Counterattack already. I know it exists, and I want to know why I haven't been able to find a copy.

I also want to forgo buying Eyeshield in order so I can skip to the part with the red-haired guitarist player. Akaba? I don't know. I keep seeing him in icons, and I feel silly about using him with my bunch if I don't know who he is. He rivals Hiruma for tasty though. I might break down and snag a picture anyway. I changed my mind while writing this.

I want spoilers for Furubra. I'm sick of waiting for the series to catch-up in America. I probably should buy volumes instead of just reading them in the store.

Whatever Father made for dinner made me ill. Bleh. And I'm out of Eyeshield to read while I flop around in bed. But we likes the Agon. Yes we do. We needs to see Hiruma vs. Agon mhmmm. Shinryuji's not my favorite but since they have Agon, I guess I will forgive them for beating my Shin for now. Sena continues to be a great main character. Need to find spare time to beg Walden for 7-9 before it closes up shop for good.

I want to make an Ojo layout just because "Glory on the Kingdom" is such an awesome slogan.
tempestuously: ([geass] save a horse ride a cowboy)
I think we'll do this journal entry in sections because this week has been amusing yet mostly uneventful.

Before that, am I the only one who watches Episode 23 of Gankutsuou and during THE BIG SCENE starts subconsciously hearing the ending theme from Christine's final scene with the Phantom. You know, the "Pitiful creature of darkness, what kind of life have you known? God grant me courage to show you you are not alone." ... Yeah, it's probably just me.

Riff Trax: Best thing ever. Seriously. If you miss MST3K on Sci-Fi, here's the next best thing. This made Daredevil watchable. They hate Colin Farrell almost as much as me. Ah kindred spirits. Although nothing could salvage The Grudge. "Wow, this movie doles out terror by the thimblefull." Matrix was also fun.

Thus I blather on about Eyeshield, Dr. Who, Geass and anything else I might have fangirled lately. )
tempestuously: ([hiruma] and came the devil)
This post was originally going to read "In the famous words of Marlin from Finding Nemo 'Good feeling gone'."

But then I got Graham's Amazon package. So now I am purring and rubbing my cheek against my new Eyeshield volumes. My father is disturbed. All is right with the world for at least the next hour.

Graham, you totally saved my suckilicious night. So much love.

First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL!

Second, the computer has once again shown it tops me by refusing to let me hook my laptop into the connection here. It's too accustomed to the router so without it, it doesn't want to acknowledge Comcast. This translates to my having to use my grandparents' computer to access the Net, which naturally limits the sites I can view. Specially ones that have a certain naughty word in the middle of their name. XD

Since I managed to lose my camera at home, I opted to ask for an emergency gift for xmas. The old one was nearly three years old anyway, and I really wanted a Powershot. I'm already approving of the faster shutter speed. Bro stole my other xmas presents. Yes, Father finally did break down and buy me my Hiruma I mean Eyeshield 21. It's nice to have a manga Bro and I can both enjoy again. He loves his football. Good thing since I'm football retarded and needed him to explain which position everyone played. I think I'm also starting to understand Shin's character. I might buy more now that I'm down here if I finish the first three fast enough.

I got to see my beloved manatees yesterday. I was surprised since it was pouring for a while there. But then it lightened up and they came out to play. They're so cute. I also talked the family into Sea World and Animal Kingdom later this week because I wanted an animal-themed trip. This was to get back at family for not braving the suicidal trip to Disney World for xmas. It would have rocked too!

I'm getting back to reading my Only the Ring Finger Knows books. I like the way the author does the sex scenes. I also enjoy the great realism of the characters. I had even more fun when my precocious niece called and asked what I was reading. Apparently "a romance" wasn't good enough for her and she wanted to know what it was about. Awkward. Also on the catch-up route, I watched Rokkaku. I loved the Rokkaku team but think I'm seriously missing out on something by not watching the anime episodes of that arc. I wonder if anyone on the miyu comm will be able to provide me with a summary. Hyoutei was still the best part of that miyu.

Final note: Never let your family talk you into visiting a Baptist church. So much agony. If there's one thing I hate, it's being yelled at while in church. They didn't even sing songs, which is my whole point for visiting church. We had Christian rock. -_- I pout now.
